I've never understood how flat-earthers explain the completely different night skies in the northern versus southern hemisphere.
If we lived on a flat disk, we'd surely all see the very same distant stars at night, wherever we live on the disk?
No doubt, for these nutjobs, pictures of our globe taken from space 'have all been doctored', but the night sky anomaly, which we can all observe with our own eyes, has always bemused me.

You assume they've travelled beyond their own back garden.

The transition would be obvious to passengers on the plane or ship, wouldn't it? Anyway, I thought Antarctica was a giant hoax to keep people away from the edge And Thereby Discovering The Truth?

That's cos your brain works differently, flat earthers know that the universe is a bit like a kaleidoscope with Earth at the base and thus looking from different parts of the world you see different reflections. Remember also that for many American US law overrules others, so they have the right to carry guns anywhere, or as one post I read "I have the right to bare arms in London" which got the Brit's taking the pee.

from this www.msn.com/en-gb/money/other/my-daughter-received-a-text-from-natwest-suspending-her-account-why-tony-hetherington-investigates/ar-AA1bMlBn?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=902cb0abb4b44a05ab8ad301dbcd322b&ei=55and scanning to next article down T he Financial Conduct Authority has recovered £27,000 from convicted conman Samuel Exall, who ran an illegal land investment scheme which The Mail on Sunday warned against over a decade ago. The cash will now be shared between his victims, who lost £2.8 million. Exall led Synergy Land Group Ltd, which said it had bought land from developers including Taylor Wimpey and Barratt Homes. It offered plots to investors for about £7,000, with the tale that values would rocket to £40,000 within months. The developers had been hit by a fall in house prices and needed the cash, Exall claimed.
I investigated and found that Exall's sales pitch was all lies. When I questioned him, he told me: 'Your interest is in writing a story, mine is to continue to run a legitimate commercial enterprise. I do not feel obliged to defend myself before the Court of The Mail on Sunday, as tempting as this might be.'
To which I replied in print that Exall might well find himself as the defendant in a real court.
That was in 2010. A year later, the FCA ordered a halt to Exall's scheme. And in 2016, Exall appeared at Southwark Crown Court and admitted that the land he was selling was vastly overpriced farmland with no planning permission for building. He was jailed for four years for fraud and banned from acting as a company director for seven years.
Synergy's land was auctioned in 2019, raising the £27,000 which the FCA will now hand to Exall's victims. The total number of Synergy investors is unknown. Only 33 victims lodged claims, four of whom have since died.
Therese Chambers, a director at the FCA, said: 'Tackling financial crime and securing redress for victims is a priority for us.'So the fraud was £2.8 million and the FCA are crowing about recovering £27,000 or 1%, plus they recovered the money in 2019 and are paying out now. make the pittance payouts on some P2P loans in administration look good

A new sub-species of MAGA , flat-earthers. I thought we'd seen the last of them.
Funniest thing I ever heard about the flat earth society was when they were asking people to join them on a round the world adventure.

I think its actually quite possible the idea of a spherical earth came about during left wing political campaigning. There is a pretty good proof here of its flatness by Prof Tom Bishop at Cornell University: www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=18114.msg319626#msg319626

Also on the BBC front page: Train strikes this week to hit FA Cup final and Epsom Derby Djokovic's Political Message Not appropriate Government calls for World Cup TV Agreement [with a picture of women footballers to accompany it, so I hope you didn't have too much of a cardiac arrest when you saw it] So out of 9 stories on the top of front page, 4 are about sport. 2 are about women's sport but are essentially about the same event. In other breaking news, not on the front page: "Some men suddenly discover that women also play sport and that people are interested in it".
