Jeez. That is a hugely damning verdict. No wonder he resigned. Originally the discussion was whether if found guilty of misleading the house the recommended suspension would be at the 10 day + threshold or not. Not read the report, but short of permanent expulsion due to imprisonment (a la Jeffrey Archer) it would not surprise me if that was a record. Still, it won't shut him up, nor his weasley sidekick "Get Me Out of Here.....but not just yet" Nadders. EDIT: nor of course the clamour of his being the 'best electoral asset the Conservatives have...' The report is being debated in the house on Monday. Suggestion is that Nadine is hanging on so she can speak in the debate in support of Boris. Results of the vote were:
- 354 support the report
- 7 do not
Leaving about 290 abstentions

His peak popularity was +14, dropping to -45 on departure. Analysis of pollsters on 2019 show much of the 'red wall' result derived from Labour collapse but also an underlying trend of increasing Tory vote that was already underway at happened mostly under May with only a modest further rise under Boris. eg Bolsover where May doubled the vote, Boris only bumped it be a few % & wouldnt have one the seat if the Lab vote hadn't collapsed. Boris needs to be consigned to history ... time for serious politicians ... if we can find any

The BBC asks if football commentators are diverse enough. Why stop at them? Why not ask if all the trades and professions are sufficiently diverse? Why aren't, for example, women well represented as plumbers, electricians, plasterers and binmen ? I wonder if we need more women in the abattoir industry ? Sorry Greenwood2 if you consider that statement "condescending" towards women. Its not meant to be ! www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-65949045
Funny how nobody complains when the lack of diversity affects white men.
Are premier league football squads sufficiently white? And how about the multi millionaires in the NBA, where 72% of players are black compared to 15% of the population in general.

Interesting question, because it raises the question of what is the denominator. Take cricket, in which the England test team generally has 0 or 1 British Asians, and the one day side 2. So you could say Asians are over-represented. But if you look at the number of people playing cricket at amateur level in England, around 40% are of Asian background. Since those that never play cricket won't get a professional contract, maybe the England team should really have 4 Asians in it?
I don't know the figures for football, but I doubt if rigid application of quotas is good for most situations.

My plumber is female. She's also done bathroom & kitchen fittings and flooring - not all at the same time, she gets repeat business because she's superb. I've been on-site during the work and only observation of biological impact is that her relatively smaller frame meant she could access smaller/more awkward areas than a standard build male (probably) could. I did ask about the low representation of females within trades and apparently a big part is so many older tradespeople (i.e. typically men that trainees do their apprenticeships with) are "insecure, sexist knobs" making it an unrewarding experience. Paraphrasing slightly but not much.

Its a very small number relatively speaking but why not indeed? My objection is to try and influence people to achieve genuine representation in all these roles. Separate to that, there seems to be a theme around minimising the differences rather than acknowledging and celebrating them. The extreme of that is the trans debate where we now have women needing to be more careful in women-only spaces in case a bloke walks in.

We shouldn’t go backwards like Turkey, having institutions teaching female students only.
Women and Men should behave in any environments without making others feel unsafe

The extreme of that is the trans debate where we now have women needing to be more careful in women-only spaces in case a bloke walks in. Why are men not worried if a woman walks in to a man only space, answer is men are not frightened of women who 'identify' as men. Women confronted by an obvious male, possibly flaunting are necessarily concerned for their safety, particularly if the women's space does not have many actual women present. Has nothing to do with what jobs women can do though.

No drink, no drugs. Not speeding. Just should have slowed down even more due to the sun. Even the victim's mother said she didn't want him overly punished as it was "an accident". And yet, he gets a prison sentence! Given its suspended I suppose at his age if won't affect him much but we don't know that. But he also got an 18 month ban and 200 hours community service. Is there no such thing as an "accident" anymore? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-65977373

PARENTS NOT WATCHING MAYBE? and i agree "accidents happen" seems to not exist anymore... there always seems to be someone to blame.
