Satire is truly indistinguishable from reality.

Not amused by. Terribly terribly sad: Computer games developer dies of Covid after not getting jab because of fear of needlesWhere I vol, we had a young man (early twenties I'd guess) who also had a terrible phobia of needles. He was desperate to get the vaccine (had a job offer from a country that required him to be vaccinated, to boot). I think it took him about 4 visits despite so much support. Awful to see the turmoil he was in. But he finally got his first, and then was keen to get on have the second.

Huge admiration for the man near you fighting so hard to overcome his phobia to get it done. On a lighter and brighter note I've just remembered that about a million years ago, before we knew what the word furlough meant, I placed a small wager at 7/2 on Rishi taking over as Party Leader. As Boris might say: "Party at my place"

As Boris might say: "Party at my place" Only way that's going to happen is if, when it gets to the last two candidates, the other pulls out before the membership get to vote... (a la Leadsom/May) Ain't no way the party membership are going to vote for a brown leader/MP if there's a choice. If the other option is Priti, then she's a cert...

Actually I think Priti would appeal to the membership more than Rishi, or Gove.
I have a leaning towards Liz Truss.
but yes in a straight fight Farage would win Hands down, and IMHO would win a subsequent election

Garage fans can put their money where their mouth is (on Paddy Power) at 50/1 .... same odds as everyone's favourite lockdown lover Matt Hancock!

It often comes down to conviction of belief and perceived competence rather than political allegiance. e.g. Tony Benn would probably still do well even though he is "extreme" left wing. Farage no doubt at all would do well as a close to extreme right winger. Even in the middle you have people like Charles Kennedy who came across well to their electorate. (As I recall they booted him due to him having a few beers too many. Idiots). Those that talk the talk just to get their tongue inside of Westminster are generally despised. Sadly, most on both benches fit that description. As for Truss, Patel or clever cloggs Gove, they are all a waste of space.

we are talking about the same Farage aren't we ? The one who insisted for years that the UK need to adopt Australian style border laws/policies ? And then came out publicly condemning Aus as a Banana Republic for trying to keep Novak out ?
I guess after electing Boris as leader, anything is possible for the core conservative membership who would be doing the anointing.
But god forbid it should come to that.
