NESO have issued one capacity notice so far but generally expect there to be no issues with supply. Mainly due to the increased importing from Europe, plentiful gas supply in Europe to provide it, no French nuclear issues & sufficient gas imports from Norway, US & Qatar for our own generation plus additional battery storage capacity. Currently gas is doing the leg work as the 'dunkelflaute' has reduced wind & solar generation significantly. Not sure EVs are going to be an issue for a while, sales are slow & manufacturers are busy shedding capacity. VW the latest Yep. Going to be very hard to square that particular circle with the current govt's plan of phasing out ICE cars from 2030. Also considerable work needed on electricity generation and storage side if the rumours of Milliband declaration on phasing out of gas generation are to be believed. With NNB coming on stream later than planned (there's a surprise).

“ Varenicline - made by pharmaceutical company Teva UK - can be more effective than nicotine gum and patches, the NHS said ahead of an announcement on Tuesday.” 🤣 TEVA UK has filed so many dormant accounts on company house and they don’t made the drug themselves. products.tevauk.com/public/varenicline-812What about Wave Pharma UK? Did they make them? I have absolutely no idea. But yes, it was approved by MHRA, I guess they weighed in the risk benefit.

Forget the conspiracy nonsense. The drug is a relatively simple molecule, requiring a completely and utterly different type of manufacturing facility. The drug was withdrawn because of concerns about a nitrosamine impurity. It's coming back because those concerns have been dealt with. My impression (reading slightly between the lines of your linked article) is that the impurity will probably still be there, but at a level now approved as acceptable. This article suggests that the drug should never have been withdrawn, because the risks associated with the impurity were far lower than from continuing smoking. www.thelancet.com/pdfs/journals/lanres/PIIS2213-2600(23)00184-4.pdfI think the real reason for Pfizer withdrawing the drug was an excess of caution - not wanting to be sued by people claiming their cancer was due to the impurity, and not to having smoked for the last n years. The new UK supply will not come from Pfizer. It will be made by two UK generic drug manufacturers: Brown & Burk (distributed by Teva), and Wave Pharma www.ncsct.co.uk/library/view/pdf/NCSCT-Generic-varenicline.pdfEdit: benaj - crossed with your last post, and now corrected (and now corrected again - it took me a little while to decode what my above link was saying). Though whether that link is right is not entirely clear, given that Wave Pharma (and not Brown & Burk) is mentioned on Teva's product page.

Chinese government still trying vainly to fool the world that living there is like crimeless shangri-la rather than a dictatorship controlled hell hole.

It’s true the Beeb journalists are not very popular in a few countries. Maybe the editors like their headlines with a spin.
Anyway, news media across the world breaks the story differently.
“35 dead and 43 injured in off-road vehicle hit at Zhuhai Sports Center sparked by man's dissatisfaction with dividing assets after divorce”
I think the state media from the other side focus on the airshow.

Not sure if Mr musk intends to spread misinformation on a daily basis, but his OpenAI toy is simply too handy for many little things in life. It’s like a “gift from god”. 🤣

The one overthehill linked to is a different story, one about state censorship, using the attack as an example.

Go on, read the Beeb article that overthehill posted... It's really not about the car attack at all.

Exactly Adrian, the headline the beeb used in that particular is very different, nothing related to the car attack, but it was developed from the same car attack story.
I am not here to defend the Beeb decision for posting their unpopularity around the world. At least other journalists haven’t reported similar experiences for the same car attack story

At least other journalists haven’t reported similar experiences for the same car attack story I suspect that they will have experienced them, though. Just not reported them. The handy goons won't have bothered to check credentials before harassing foreign journos. AFP reporting memorials being removed in apparent attempts to play the event down, Chinese social media being cleansed, as well as security being "tight" with "plainclothes officers blocking AFP reporters". www.france24.com/en/live-news/20241113-china-clears-memorial-to-victims-of-deadly-car-ramming-attack

Wes Streetings plan to sack underperforming NHS managers :- www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1kn092rvn3oissues the Managers are employed by Trusts not the Government so he can't sack them The Managers will seek to shift blame see www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/clydjn101p2oManagers will resign and be employed elsewhere ( another trust ), it happens now in the NHS, Local Government etc it can take years to get rid of staff :- www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-56454138 - and in that case cost £ millions the concept of banning agency staff is ok, and other things need to be clamped down on eg Nurses signing up with agencies and doing overtime on the same ward they normally work on but at 2/3/4/5 times the rate they normally get
