"Government Efficiency" almost as much of an oxymoron as "military intelligence"

I've just heard someone, without a scrap of humour/irony, say that we need a mass debate about the government's new on line porn proposals

"Government Efficiency" almost as much of an oxymoron as "military intelligence" Or "Brexit Opportunities" So cynical. Pretty sure his company made an absolute killing out of Brexit-related currency movements and that's why he was also gunning for no-deal Brexit. Lots of opportunities if you don't mind trashing the place. Also: "Haunted Victorian Pencil"...still hilarious!

Minister for "Brexit Opportunities and Government Efficiency" : never in the field of human politics have so many oxymorons been included in so few words. Just as well they have put somebody as competent as JRM into the role.

Macron says that Putin says that there will no more Ukraine escalation... So a man who thinks he is a god believes a liar that what? Rather a touch of Neville Chamberlain and 1938 about it I thought. He may not have read the news report resulting from the post meeting interview, where Putin reportedly said that he had been 'tortured for 6 hours by Macron asking questions'. Still, anything goes when you on the one hand you have an election coming up, and on the other an invasion.

Scene: Steps outside Elysee Palace.
Macaulay Macron:
'.................. peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Go home and get a nice quiet sleep'.

Macron... thinks he's a god? Where's that one come from? Google "Macron Sun King". EDIT: iirc Jupiter also got a look in at one point. The "Sun King" (Louis 14th, a king, not a god) reference came from the press, Le Monde, in reaction to Macron referring to "my people". www.dw.com/en/emmanuel-macron-a-republican-sun-king-whose-popularity-is-not-setting/a-41918873 "In the interview, Macron referred to the French as "my people" — through not everyone welcomed his language. Some, like French newspaper Le Monde, thought this language had a somewhat grandiose quality to it, reminding it of French monarch Louis XIV, the so-called Sun King who sought absolute power during his 72-year reign. Thus, the paper's description of Macron as a "republican monarch.""FWIW, Johnson has also referred to the British population as "my people", through a partial biblical quote that stopped just short of "that they may serve me"... "Jupiterian" came from a criticism of the failure of Hollande's low-key presidency style. www.challenges.fr/election-presidentielle-2017/interview-exclusive-d-emmanuel-macron-je-ne-crois-pas-au-president-normal_432886"But what type of president is capable of embodying and bringing the country together? François Hollande does not believe in the “Jupiterian president”. He considers that the President has become a transmitter like any other in the political and media sphere. For my part, I do not believe in the "normal" president. The French do not expect this. On the contrary, such a concept destabilizes them, makes them insecure. For me, the presidential function in contemporary democratic France must be exercised by someone who, without considering being the source of everything, must lead society by dint of convictions, actions and give a clear meaning to his approach."
