maybe it is time for change.lets skip a generation and see william and catherine as our figureheads.charles and camilla could carry on doing what their doing and enjoy retirement.a fresh start with two of the most liked and respected people in the world.a couple who are more in tune with the needs of our country that has changed and diversified so much in the past 20/30 years.
Exactly what the Queen has been thinking for the last 30 years, that's why she is still there. Charles and Camilla won't play out well, a complete irrelevance to the majority of the population, maybe he'll do an Edward VIII. They've got a chance to restore some dignity and quieten the anarchists before it's too late. All their wealth and assets returned to the public and reduce the burden on the taxpayer!

Volkswagen not content with polluting the air are now trying to pollute the oceans!
"So far, no source of pollution has been recorded", says the Portuguese navy. Hmm... either it lost something in translation or they haven't spotted 200 metres and 60,000 tons of burning vessel billowing acrid smoke 50m into the sky and blotting out most of the horizon... All depends on where and how they are detecting, left may be tarnished, but looking right (presumably where they are detecting) looks ok.

Another ship fire
Not the first on a Greek ferry. In 1992 we crossed with a motorhome from Brindisi to Igoumenitsa via Corfu. When I went on deck in the early morning I saw the upper deck was ablaze with crew running with extinguishers who managed to put it out. By the time we arrived in Greece they had repainted all the damaged area so it wouldn't be noticed.
Another year crossing from Calais to Dover, the Pride of Kent had three tries to dock in Dover with a gale, then the Captain announced we were going back out to wait for the wind to drop. We then spent three hours at sea before finally going ashore.

although the Ireland model is not necessarily a bad one: the President is primarily figurehead, and it doesn't seem to ever be taken by 'slimey ex pols', possibly precisely because it is a figure head position. Most countries with President and PM have one or the other as the predominant position. France - President predominant, PM appointed by pres as functionary. Germany - Chancellor (PM) predominant, President nominal figurehead. Very good point. Italy has a hybrid model where the President is primarily a figurehead but also holds a vito over the introduction of new laws. It is not done very often but it is. I think there was a situation where the President refused to introduce a highly controversial anti-imigration law.

Similar to here, with the monarch... In theory yes but the last time royal assent was not given was 1707. If they tried it would probably end the monarchy. In Italy it is used, although only occasionally.

It was either Uncle Albert smoking or one of the batteries, not for the first time. Is Lithium a pollutant ? One major source of Lithium mining is dried up salt lakes. A car has many sources of pollutant in a fire.

Many of the cars will be BEVs or HEVs, so there will undoubtedly be large amounts of LiIon cells in there... just as there will be in a container ship of mobile phones and laptops... There'll also be a metric shedload of bunker oil, which they'll be hoping won't leak. What the cause of the fire is is still unknown... and may remain so, depending on how much is left when it's finally safe to board. Cargo - up to 4,000 VW group cars, inc VW/Audi/Lamborghini/Bentley. 1,100 of them are known to be Porsches. There may also be other cargo - its capacity is 6,500TEU (20ft container equivalents).

I could do some as good as those.
My Daughter was persuaded to give a "poor mum" some baby clothes for peanuts, a week later most of them were on eBay mostly at more each than this woman had paid for the lot.
I've had people ask for freebies as they are a "poor" student or make me a silly offer in some cases below what it costs to post the item.
it's also interesting on eBay these days that some buyers try to negotiate the price after the auction ends, or ask for extras to be thrown in
