I used to work in his constituency and often spoke to his voters about why they chose him.
"mate, a monkey with a red rose in his lapel would get in here" was the gist
Do you remember when greepeace fitted solar cells to his mansion (remember he only ever worked as a purser)?
Same as "paint a pig blue" in parts of Lincolnshire Here in the valleys the attitude is "workers" Vote Labour, Middle management and professionals Lib Dem, and the rich and bosses vote Conservative, of course the unemployed all count themselves as workers, and the fact that in Wales in you live in a band A to D house and don't pay council tax you still get the £150 rebate has gone down well "Look what Labour are doing for us"

I used to work in his constituency and often spoke to his voters about why they chose him. "mate, a monkey with a red rose in his lapel would get in here" was the gist They even managed to withstand the "blue wall" in 2019... Just. "The turnout of 49.3% in Kingston upon Hull East was the lowest in any constituency in the United Kingdom at the 2019 general election, and was the only example of a seat where fewer than half of the eligible electorate voted.[6] It was also the seat with the lowest number of votes for a winning candidate in England."Electorate - 65,745 Lab - 12,713 Con - 11,474 (But thanks are mainly due to St Nige of the Farridge for denying the Tories the seat... Brx - 5,764) keitha - similar but with a sheep roun' by 'yer. Our beloved local MP is all over the national news today, for the first time in his miserable existence. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/tory-mp-rich-qatar-refugee-boats-b2047394.htmlA Tory MP has demanded easier access to the UK for rich Qataris as the “right” type of immigrant – and a crackdown on refugees arriving in “rubber boats”. “The only people who are turning up, turn up in rubber boats,” he told Boris Johnson, asking: “Why can’t we get the right people through our immigration system’ instead of the wrong ones?” Mr Wiggin – who recently declared a Qatar-funded £2,740 trip to the country, in the Commons register – then added: “We want Qataris. We don’t want people in rubber boats.”I'm sure he is not happy at the coverage. The Indie inconveniently forgot that he was upgraded in the latest New Year Honours from plain Bungalow Bill to Sir Wungalow William, for his unstinting services to keeping a back bench warm and heading through the correct lobby without asking awkward questions. Bless him. That sheep would do a better job.

Not in the news, but amusing none the less.
My internet banking provider has notifications on it's web site regarding additional security measures when making purchases using credit / debit cards in shops. Apparently, when I'm at the checkout I can complete the additional checks using my land line

That's a bit like them sending a code to the device you are currently using to prove you are you.

What amused me today was this Ukranian government spokesman, commenting on the unfortunate explosions over the border in Russia, referred to the "Belgorod Peoples Republic". Perhaps I shouldn't spell it out, but Russia's usual practice has been hiving bits off other peoples countries and calling them such things, so this is a top piece of irony. www.pravda.com.ua/news/2022/04/1/7336404/

Poor lad. Just imagine the embarrassment of being caught going on holiday to Cancun just days after failing to turn up to court to answer questions about lying about hiding millions of assets in order to go bankrupt to avoid paying the damages and legal fees for the libel trial you lost... I'm sure he wasn't simply doing a runner to somewhere he thought extradition might be tricksy, leaving the "ex-"wife he divorced at a very convenient time for the asset-obfuscation to liquidate the houses and cars and then join them all... No, heavens, that's absolutely not the sort of thing that Stephen "Tummy Rubbinson" Yackety-Lenin would do at all.

I am disappointed by the lack of ambition, where is the canoe and the holiday home in Panama?

I am disappointed by the lack of ambition, where is the canoe and the holiday home in Panama? Well, Cancun is <1k miles from Panama, probably the nearest mainstream mainland holiday destination that Tummy Yackety-Lenin has heard of. And he's certainly dense enough to confuse "canoe" and "Cancun".
