I suspect the pint is only true at 16.7C (62F)
A litre is only true for water as a liquid at 0C
just the variation in temperature tells me that the multiple decimal place figures are so much BS, angels dancing on a pin head

Regarding how much is in a pint:
It depends whether they serve you in England or in the Republic of Ireland (I don't know about Northern Ireland).
In England you get a full glass of beer, in Ireland you get about 2/3rd of the glass and the rest is froth.
That used to annoy me, I used to feel shortchanged. Either that, or I was extremely unlucky with my choice of pubs.

One of the few thing I really miss living in S England as they like to pour it right to the top. In many central european countries you do get a big bloody head which I also like. Bloody hell I need to get out to the pub....

Nice story. I guess the police have to be seen to be tackling any crime but their comments felt a little OTT to me. He is NOT the best advert for the police wanting to point out how serious these crimes can be. At that age and with his spotless driving record I hope he gets away with a caution but allowed to take a driving test if he so wishes. What a second chapter to the story that might make !

Not to mention if it took them 70 years to catch him, it's not a very good advert for the effectiveness of the local traffic cops!

Ah but water is at its most dense at 4 degrees ( 3.98.. for the pedants ) therefore I assume at 8 degrees or thereabouts it is as dense as at 0

Surprised you can still operate a keyboard at those prices though. Very envious. My previous local was a Greene King - their IPA is good, and their Abbot is an excellent ale, right up there with Courage Directors and Fullers ESB for me. You're lucky to have an outlet so far away from the brewery at Bury St Edmunds. Most of the beers around me seem to come up from Cornwall. Doom Bar, Tribute, Atlantic, Sea Fury... or Brains ales out of Cardiff. All are good but not a patch on Abbot, to my palette. Have one for me. I expect for Abbot they'll want to rush you 7p though...

Was only the IPA, and they had a limited volume per pub.
All those of us with a palette were drinking it the youngsters drinking the fancy Lagers etc at £4 a pint.

My favourite tipple is Timothy Taylor's Landlord. Well worth the £3.40 my local charges, although when the first lockdown loomed they did reduce it to £1.50 a pint. Bliss! But then none for months and months ....sob.

Boris Johnson responding to questions raised by users of the MumsNet forum during an interview with the owner, Justine Roberts. 0:00 - 8:30 approx focused on honesty and integrity issue.
First question "...from a user who goes by the name of *TimBoothsEyes*. She'd like to know why should we believe anything you say when it's been proven you're an habitual liar?"
