Something of a click bait headline?
The headline says 'how to get your money back' but the first line of the article says 'the best chance of getting your money back'.

I've heard adverts on the radio recently saying "If you've been scammed contact us and we'll get your money back, contact XYZ solicitors today."

Reading it you get a sense of just how much crime is enabled by these types of websites. Never any mention of jail time for those arrested, just another entry in their previous criminal record for most. Changing important passwords regularly and using 2FA is crucial and worth the effort.

Ok formulates I have ether just turned down a great bargain or seriously upset a scammer.So I find a sidescan sonar fishfinder , bad news it's in the states but the seller will pay shipping costs so great. Because it's on Facebook market place where I have never purchased anything before I specify payment will be by PayPal goods and services only. The seller rushes of and dispatches ,sends me tracking details with photo of reciet. Now wants paying family and friends to an email address. Will not produce a invoice within marketplace, wants to be payed outside the system. No way , sujests then I pay goods and services to this email address, but I can't see how if this goes all wrong I have any protection as will have no evidence of goods or services being ordered or posted. Then I pay guess what western union, no way.
Left this with the seller saying they are rushing of retrieve goods and me saying if they appear here ,complete,in good working order I will pay any way they wish.
What do you think the odds are of me being the proud owner of a new to me all singing fishfinder.

99% SCAM. There is no paypal protection when sending money to friends.
A seller using paypal as a payment method instead is a different type of transaction with buyer protection like a credit card.

SCAM. No paypal protection when sending money to friends. A seller using paypal as a payment method is sort of vouched for and is a totally different transaction with buyer protection like a credit card.
Not sure what is going on if you want the item, if you pay by Paypal you will get you're money back if it is a scam.

Not sure what is going on if you want the item, if you pay by Paypal you will get you're money back if it is a scam. correct.. if you pay with paypal and its a scam ,, you get your money back.

I didn’t know there’s a device to find Plenty Of Fish like singing fishfinder. I have definitely learned something new today.
I thought those offering services like Any FishFinder are just scams. 🤣

Unfortunately no, you have a option to pay friends and family or goods and services. Friends and family is a cheaper service, payed to the seller almost immediately,, but offers no protection from loss. The goods and services option offers protection only if the goods are dispatched by courier or post and is invoiced by the selling platform and payed through it, ebay or Facebook normally.If you choose to bypass the platform and pay directly the seller, useing say their email address you are on your own as I understand it. Sellers are not payed for 21 days with goods and services to enable payment to be frozen if any issues arise on receit , or no receit of goods. These loopholes are exploited by scammers who specialize in the misconceptions of buying using PayPal, thinking it's the same as credit cards, this is very much not the case.

So my efforts to buy a fishfinder/sonar on Facebook continues, so as to save time and deter scammers I just message before any offer that I will only pay PayPal , goods and services invoiced through Facebook . Five different sell offers this week I am interested in , but as soon as I message them, no interest , or replies of any stupid excuse for me to pay friends and family.
Is Facebook marketplace only inhabited by scammers, seriously if you buy on this site be very very careful.
