Given the propagandization of RT, the Russian Orthodox church and the "opposition" parties within Russia those results are actually amazingly pro western. Good for them.

Do you think Russia needs to improve relations with the U.S. and other Western countries?
79% yes

now the press is full of break-away areas reporting shelling on them, such an obvious false flag attack.
This is when RT really gives value to the Kremlin, except outside Russia the programme is just seen as taking on the old role of Pravda

Kremlin announces 'extraordinary' meeting of Russian Security Council.
Putin : Any questions ? Security Council : Any point ?
Putin : Nato are surrounding us ? Security Council : What Russia ?
Putin : We don't have enough land and territory ? Security Council : What Russia ?
Putin : Nato are dangerous and are intent on invading us ? Security Council : What Russia ?
Putin : Will you stop saying Russia.
I'm looking forward to finding out if the EU actually has a spine and seeing the most dangerous man to the free democratic world dealt with. The sanctions are going to be epic this time. For a country 3 times the size of the US , you'd think he would have more pressing domestic matters to attend to rather than warmongering.

Oh god don't make me like him. I've huge respect for people taking on (relatively) menial work to retain their financial independence. Hilarious photo of sad-Putin at the wheel! Edit: that sleb gossip link is pure gold too...Beatles-loving Libra with a salary of $112K and net worth $70 billion suspected of having an affair with Wendi Dench/Murdoch (<-- how did I not know this?)

That would break the "integrity" deal that Moscow signed

I expect he was with the KGB at the time and was undercover.

I see that Putin's speech is currently ongoing, with him essentially expressing what he has previously written and said: that Russia's destiny is essentially to re-establish the territory of the Soviet Union.
What is not yet clear - its ongoing - is what is going to happen beyond recognising the breakaway regions as separate from Ukraine. Presumably he will move his forces into those regions. But is he going to wait a few days, increase false flag activities and then use that - infringement of the breakaway regions - as excuse for invasion of the rest of Ukraine.
The latter is looking increasing likely. Very depressing times.

Nobody is going to believe it's legitimate, and it isn't going to change the call for sanctions and restrictions.

Having lived there on and off for the past few years, own property there and have now "fled" just in case, its pretty sad that most folk continue to agree with each other about how evil russia is, how we're the good guys and have no interest in hearing a different view born out of experience. Why even have a debate?

You would be surprised how many people will believe him, in the loony fringe I've already been reading that a potential war is a western ploy to distract from the vaccine protests etc. And some already think of Putin as a good (White) Christian much maligned by the West. Scary stuff out there.
