Sorry, but even clubs I've belonged too people get suspicious if refused access to the accounts, indeed some years ago the treasurer of a bowls league I was a member of refused to let the Auditor see the bank accounts, after several months of prevarication the league secretary went to the bank and got copies, and it was discovered that the accounts were empty despite the treasurer saying they had over £3000 in them.
At the end of the day the treasurer ended up with a criminal conviction for dishonesty, after the trial and before sentencing it was revealed he had a previous conviction for the same offence where he lived previously. You wonder what makes a man with an accountancy business and a 1/2 million house take a few thousand quid

One that could be in the amuse section
BBC report that SNP accounts balance.
which as we all know is hardly a surprise, it doesn't mean they can be audited (auditors resigned), or that assets are not in some strange things but does mean that the overall accounts balance (see also double entry book keeping)

Simple.................it's called pure, fuc*ing GREED Or is it more that... in elite bowls there has always been a bias to being a bit bent. There's a certain amount of backhanders too. and given the equipment the reality is the top players tend to be less bent than the average. but yes a top player will be consistently bent

With many of these things the accounts balance, Polly Peck and Patisserie Valerie spring to mind Most of us are invested in P2P we all can probably name examples of businesses whose books balanced and indeed showed a profitable business yet within weeks or months those companies were liquidated. a business I know of locally to me had stock and equipment valued at over £250,000 including a car valued at £22,000, when the company went bust 3 months later the administrators discovered amongst other things that the £22,000 car had a seized engine and had been involved in a fire. much of the stock ( food and drink ) was out of date so worthless. IT equipment was valued at over £25,000, at the sale of equipment I purchased one of the PC's for £25 my rough guess was the total for IT kit was £1000.

Given that hardly anyone in the SNP has sight of the accounts, I wonder how the Beeb have verified this. Ian Blackford was saying the same yesterday, but the interviewer doesn't appear to have asked how he knew this?
Anyhow, what does balance mean (assets and liabilities are the same?). I assume there should be a £600k surplus, based on the amount of money that was donated to the non existent independence campaign.

And all this from a party that decides to increase taxes on fairly average earners to 1% more that south of the border, increase alcohol tax, a bag tax etc etc etc all to show no improvement in any public service with the additional funds. Now even the Scottish islanders are less likely to vote for SNP again.
If they couldnt manage the party funds, ive no idea how they thought they could manage an independent countrys budgets.

My mistake, BBC reports that Sturgeon stated that the accounts balance. Utter nonsense of course. Accounts balance because they would if a fraudster had set them up to balance. Slaps head. That woman has baan leading Scotland a merry dance of incompetence. Bad education, bad ferries and now fraud.

So I guess the obvious question is, if everything is hunkydory why did the auditors resign?

LOL heard this this morning
the SNP books balance, we put the income book on one side of a balance beam and the outgoings book on the other and look it balances.
As to Auditors resigning, I remember reading this against a company "we XXXX have resigned as auditors of YYYY, in the last Audit information was not given to us in any acceptable financial format, the company were evasive, and dilatory in responding to requests, this resulted in considerable cost overruns to ourselves and the accounts not being able to be submitted on time "

He served as the SNP's treasurer for 16 years before being defeated in an internal election by Douglas Chapman in 2020. He returned to the role when Mr Chapman resigned a year later over a dispute caused by the treasurer of the party not being allowed to look at the accounts.

What any treasurer should be looking after the accounts, any Treasurer not allowed to see the accounts should be raising that at the highest level. Indeed I would say any Treasurer who hasn't see the books / Finances is failing in his/her duty in the role.
