Putting aside the fact that I am clearly not the target market..... Eurovision song (really not what I call songs) contest. Should this be news at any level? Its quite popular in many other european countries. Not our demographic that is safe to say.

My personal view is UK will be lucky to finish last
he really is awful rubbish song, and a rubbish singer, honestly you can hear better singers at chucking out time most Saturdays round here ( Welsh Valleys ), but not last, I'll give him bottom 3

www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-68900203This is an outrageous waste of public money. Why aren't more nurses (and doctors) being trained urgently? Is it because it might take longer than an election cycle to see the results ? In other news, the bankers bonus cap is scrapped. Why do bankers deserve to have their pay driven up by market forces and not nurses? Absolutely , I heard this all the time from right wing rich chip shop owners that market forces should be allowed to rule unchecked , the minimum wage should be scraped and any benefits, rent support is wrong. Until the last couple years when they cannot get staff unless they pay more because the staff cannot earn enough to pay the rent on their accommodation and car fuel costs , most of there staff are on split shifts in rural areas. Now they want more tax payer support for there working workers to support them and in effect subsidise their businesses, the non working members of society can of course swing.

Agreed I live in the Welsh Valleys 20 miles or so North of Cardiff. It's a deprived area and few well paid jobs, 2 bed terraced properties run at around £7-800 a month to rent. Min wage £450 a week £1950 a month £180 Tax £75 NI £1700 left Rent and Council Tax at least £800 so 1/2 your income goes jut on keeping a roof over your head.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c88z8jn8gj0o#:~:text=A%20benefits%20cheat%20who%20was,under%20proceeds%20of%20crime%20legislation. Able to run 5k in 27 minutes but claims difficult to get out of bed, and "prefer to have someone with me when outdoors as I have dizzy spells" - at her age at the time 23 minutes or so would be a good time people like this are taking money from people who deserve it and don't get it, It looks to me like she read the "manual" oh how to claim disability and knew what "keywords" to use

Your lot are lucky rent would be £1200 plus council tax here and these people have no public transport to get to work so running a car is the only normal option if you wish to work. One very busy summer trade local chip shop in a rural cove with just a single track access had to provide accommodation from their holiday homes at the site in the end to get some staff, but had to shut shop. Staff could not stick the no social life location , £50 taxi return to the nearest pub.

I thought the court might have caught the “wrong” benefit fraudster as Bond could easily be a secret agent “paid” by a different department for doing “secret” field service. 🤣
TBH, I can’t help myself imagine there’s some community out there, searching for “Friends with benefits” in dating apps.
Anyway, I couldn’t believe there’s a gang of five out there cheating the system for 8 figures.
From the gov:-
How did they become so “clever” to “steal” half of £100mil? or was it too “easy”?
🤬

This old man was told by the home office to wait another 10 years to become British despite spending decades living in here, no fast track for him to attend the citizenship ceremony. youtu.be/rdCkMljDXEwI wonder is it because the home office knows there are many people like him living in this country not being British?

Not sure what the issue is here, he has never applied for citizenship so has to go through the same process that everyone does. The son seems to be complaining about the cost but again it is something that everyone applying to be a British citizen has to pay.

TBH, unless the papers didn’t check his background properly, I can’t imagine why home office would tell him to wait that long if he is married to a British Citizen and has never been told to leave before. 10 years sounds like the person shouldn’t be allowed living here in the first place. Normally, it takes 5 years to reach the ILR status.

I read about this in the media earlier in the week.
The video contains some sloppy journalism when it says he emigrated to UK in 1977. My understanding is that he came here on a student visa that allowed him to work. When the visa expired he stayed on in this country, and his status only became apparent when he recently applied for a UK passport. As far as I know there is no exemption from deportation after you have been here illegally for a specified period of time. That said, he is probably more suitable to remain in UK than most of the people coming here in boats.
