benaj , Did your Telephone line work from start (after switching over to CityFibre) ? I'm now about 3 1/2 months into the process of a promised supposed switchover to FTTP over City Fibre infrastructure. Total and utter shambles. Just a good job my FTTC hasn't been switched off. So this EVENTUALLY got sorted. CF must have made about 7 or 8 trips to the house. The comms between them and Zen (my provider) was abysmal. Mainly I think because City Fibre didn't have a clue what was happening. Guys from CF would turn up not having a clue what they'd come to do. The first visit they weren't able to get the cable down the ducting at the front of house. So they fitted internally and connected to box on external wall. "We won't need internal access from here on". Another crew came with the kit to blast out the ducting. Then someone came to put cable down and through to the cabinet. Accept tests showed there was a kink in the cable or the ducting up the road. Or something. So another crew would need to come out with kit to blast that. Then another crew were needed, but because a different type of cable (perhaps because of the kink) had been put in, they couldn't crimp it so another crew would have to come out with the right kit 'cos they weren't allowed to carry it. And so on. Everytime I'd get emails/texts telling me I had an appointment, and I needed to be in so they could have access. Multiple times I talked to Zen and said 'no they don't'. Then they'd get confirmation from CF that they would. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. And of course most times they turned up not knowing what they were meant to do and no they didn't need access. Then a guy turned up from some other company that CF use as external auditor. This wasn't a pre-made appointment, but he knocked on the door out of courtesy. I told him - wtihout holding too much back - that I didn't actually have a freaking service yet. After discussions with manager, he decided they had fitted the wrong box inside. So he fitted a new box. Surprise surprise, I still didn't get a service from it after waiting the advised period (apparently his manager said it just needed some trick doing at the exchange). Eventually another crew was scheduled. For what they thought was a first visit (again). My opening question: "What is it you think you are here to do?". "We're just trying to figure that out....." So they reversed the internal box installation to the original one ("NO idea why he did that"). Still not sorted. But these guys weren't going to leave without sorting it. After a considerable period and some phone calls, they proudly declared they had sorted it. The answer ? Back at the cabinet, no-one had actually connected the end of my cable to anything. I had this vision of a box with the words "A miracle happens here" in it. I doubt the guy who came round to audit the work of the others had a good time on a 'lessons learnt'. Anyway, I was going to make a final complaint to Zen in writing, but couldn't be bothered in the end. But completely unprompted, about 4 or 5 weeks later, they have come back saying I was owed compensation, and have given me a credit to my account which is nearly £600. So fair do's.

600 quid. Nice result. Best I've 3ver had was £50 from scottish power for continuous errors in my deceased aunts power account. The funny thing was, I accepted the compensation on the basis that the error was resolved. 2 weeks later the bill was sent incorrectly and the same guy called me to offer another £50. Nothing learned it seemed.

Meanwhile, watching a football on a national streaming app via vpn, one advert shows 10Gps home connection from NOS. Not pricey, around 90 EUR per month
Why the equivalent for the same speed in uk almost doesn’t exist apart from least line @ £745 per month

Who actually needs 10gig download speed?
A 4k feature film is about 20Gb in size. At 10gig, it'd download in 16 seconds. Five people sharing the connection? Your film took 1min20m, assuming everybody else was trying to download 20Gb+ at the EXACT same time...
Nah, it's utterly pointless.

Airband are rolling out FTTP around our way, with max speeds of 900Mbs. That's probably 10 times what I need, so I'll stick with my 76Mbs FTTC.

😅 I understand it’s probably no point getting 10Gbps connection of it is just used for this forum, especially the hardware can’t handle it.
Anyway, I read somewhere Cityfibre has upgraded some network to 9.953Gbps. I haven’t tested that speed myself, but download a 120GB game with 10Gbps speed would be amazing, and preparing a few movies downloads just before jet off won’t take hours.

It pays to shop around.NOW broadband have decent deals if you go through TopCashBack. You can get 63mb for under £18 per month on a 12 month contract.(after cashback) I've been with Now broadband for 2 weeks. I wouldn't recommend them. Useless router, hopeless customer service and theyeven managed to change my phone number without telling me. Hooray! Due to Now Broadband's in contract price rise I can now leave scot free after pocketing the £76.50 cashback.
