Just done the move onsstream £20 a month for 75Mbps need a router but hey I can tweak the one I have, surprised they charge extra for a router these days, looked on amazon and the router they want £2.89 a month for is available for < £25
called existing supplier before moving, and bearing in mind they quoted me £48, I explained why I was looking to move, instantly "long standing customer discount" £34.99, so I said no, got then down to £25, but then they said it would go up in April by January inflation plus 3.9% effectively £2 a month.
I put my order in with new company within 90 minutes old company have called and offered £24 and no April increase,
interesting was the questions about keeping land line at £6.50 a month so obviously Landline now debundled from broadband

😅 What exactly is Onestream? I am very confused how they provide connection? Do they partner with BT Openreach or they have multiple “partners”?
Looking at my surrounding households, some are being offered to sub70Mbps connection while the other block are being offer sub 1000Mbps.
I am pretty sure other non BT Openreach providers can’t even provide service to my surrounding households.

😅 What exactly is Onestream? They're a reseller of Openreach copper or FTTP.

Just realised Shell Broadband are being “taken over” by Talktalk.
Has anybody successfully switching a BT number to Virgin? Planning to switch soon due to this unexpected Shell’s move.

Do your research of the forums before touching companies like onestream. I tried talktalk many years ago, never again.
The different speeds are down to whether it is FTTC or FTTH , fibre to the cabinet or the home. If you don't have FTTC cabinets in the street the max speed might be < 70Mb/s as it is all copper from the nearest sub-station. I have cityfibre to the home with vodafone as a provider. Cityfibre support up to the fibre modem on the wall and vodafone support the router.
Go to MSE , put in your postcode and it will tell you what provider and speed options you have and the price.

Consumer choice and healthy competition is getting eroded all the time with mergers and takeovers by greedy corporates, not only broadband. We get left with startups with terrible customer service, subscribing you to expensive useless extras without your knowledge and usually failing anyway causing even more dissatisfaction or disruption. Shell is a good example. There is even talk of vodafone being bought.
I wouldn't touch BT (price) or Virgin either (closed fibre network to other providers)

went through MSE, they are claiming 75Mbps each way as its VDSL, at the moment I get 35 and 9 Yes agree on talktalk it was just that all talktalk no blooming action, regular loss of service for 2-3 hours at a time, speed dropping below 10Mbps for hours at a time usually about 3:30 Ie when kids get home

A company called Airband installed a duct network around half of town, offering FTTP with speeds of up to 900MB. My next door neighbour had it installed, but I didn't like the way they installed the cable under the lawn and then pinned it to the front of the house (all looked a bit exposed and vulnerable).
As somebody who was brought up using a 28k modem, what can I do with 900MB that I can't do with my current 70MB provider.

The next time you visit for a coffee, make a note of the password for his wifi and Bob's your uncle...
At 900MB/s he won't notice!

Over the course of many years the supply has been at the advertised speed and reliable. On the other hand, customer services is sh*t.

But what kind of customer service do you need from isp? Last few times I contacted them were about cancellation. 😅
Can’t imagine they provide face to face customer service with a cup of coffee.
