The only ways to have avoided the war was for either Russia to not have marched into Ukraine, or for Ukraine to not have defended itself against the initial open aggression, which are you suggesting and how would either have been accomplished? Is that meant to be an answer?

Given the countries that are part of BRICS, I doubt they would ever trust each other enough to have a common currency
