What exactly is an "internet clearing house"? I haven't come across this term before. Somewhere like Telehouse - www.telehouse.net/london-data-centres (down for me at the moment, ironically...). Basically, a sodding great big very secure building with a hell of a lot of big fat cables feeding a hell of a lot of flashing lights in a hell of a lot of racks, tying everybody's networks together. When they have a problem, things go very south very quickly. Thanks. I have over 15 years in enterprise IT and internet technologies and am very familiar with internet backbone and also with data centres. I have never come across the term "internet clearing house" and thought perhaps it was a new technology that had passed me by.

Seems like, for a lot of people, it is access to BT's DNS server(s) which is the issue, and switching to the Google (spit!) version 8.8.8.8 might get around the problem. The 'Network' is a bit like the UK rail 'network' .. getting from A to B almost invariably results in you going via London. Not the first time BT's DNS servers have gone wrong on a massive scale. That company needs drastic reform.

No, just a bit of "Joe Public'll understand it"... <cough> And I couldn't remember the right term...

Note to self: be very careful on this forum when using technospeak about problems with the interweb.

Note to self: be very careful on this forum when using technospeak about problems with the interweb. I came across an interesting word just this week: ultracrepidarian. Some people have an ability to speak with great authority about topics which they know nothing about and on a forum where everyone's background is unknown, it is important to remember that not everyone who offers an opinion is worth listening to.

No errors but simply will not go beyond login screen. Hopefully a very temporary fault.

An early morning update gone wrong?
It is all As and Bs with just 1 C. Loosening of the ratings or just finding better customers?

I've also benefited 3 times in the last 2 weeks from Furtive Critters' current "Summer Cashback-unlikely" campaign. Thursday's seem to be the best day for this.
