D for definitely default & E for even an idiot wouldn't lend to that business.

I'm of the opinion that a potential 3.4% return in two weeks isn't to be sniffed at!

I'm of the opinion that a potential 3.4% return in two weeks isn't to be sniffed at! Even if it emerges that manual SM buyer aren't prepared to pay any premium at all for E loan parts bought at MBR (so they can only be moved along at par to Autobidders), Baz** and co are still looking at 1.5% per month, less Flaming Cocktails' 0.25% sale fee. If they sell at par after the first payment, that's 1.25% return in a month which is still handy. Until supply catches up with demand, I think we'll continue to see E band loans being hoovered up very quickly.

Indeed and if you sell at par on day 29 you'll get the accrued interest for most of the month with no default risk. Sorted!

Meh, I would pretty much guarantee they would fly out immediately if you put them up at par.

On reflection, I reckon the risks of holding to day 59 are pretty low too; I can't see False Confidence wanting the bad PR of an early E band loan failing even to make its first payment so I suspect they'd reach into their own pocket in that case.

There are over 100 parts on the SM at present for 13907 E. Can any of you say how they are moving?

There are over 100 parts on the SM at present for 13907 E. Can any of you say how they are moving? There were a couple of 2.8% parts listed earlier and they've both gone. Now just 4 parts at 2.9% and the rest still at the full 3%. That suggests buyers must be biting; the big flippers usually are quite happy to undercut each other quickly when their parts aren't moving.

I'm feeling unusually dense, but I just don't see why anybody would pay a 3% premium for an asset with a 16.5% return, and a predicted default rate of 8% (and then FC's 1% on top).

Perhaps because they reckon on picking up a couple of months' interest at 17.2% and then selling on at 3% again to recoup the premium they paid

I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole .

I might be able to talk Biddy into it, but the risk is really that, as with C-, Fulsome Clever will find a whole bunch to saturate the market, so reselling the early ones will be a challenge. The first one to close ABOVE the 18.2% MBR will obviously (assuming a long term) sell at a better rate than the current batch, so rate tarts will chase the newer ones instead. As someone said, you can always unload at par though, no autobid users are going to have got any yet (they really should have been at the front of the queues IMO).

As an experiment, I listed a £20 part at 2.8%, to put it top of the list, and it sold in 20 minutes. The 2.9% parts have now gone too.
