Bidding has been useless this morning. Three times I "apparently" had plenty of bids live, I found at the end that I hadn't any. Guitar Man, Supermarket and now 4807 W-Capital!! On the last one the website must have been showing well over £20,000 behind the actuality, because I had bids in at 11.2% and 11.1% at auction end, but the result was zilch - top bid 11.0%. Not good enough FC!! Do NOT (repeat NOT) rely on 'live update' (beta, zeta or whatever). If you use F5 (or equivalent) to refresh a non-live-update page, the data seems not too bad .. I was able to spot where it was headed and get a couple in at 11% well before the dust settled. Did see all sorts of flakiness (at one point live update showed I had 34 bids in, whereas the 'my bids' total on the right showed about 3, with an average rate of NaN (not a number)) but this is not exactly new at the end of a popular auction. There really is no hope for real time 'push' data, but if you 'pull' with F5 it seems tolerable. Yes, dynamic bidding on the servers themselves would cut a lot of traffic, and the whole auction could be completed in microseconds (assuming everyone was in from the get-go) .. but I doubt FC have the abilities to implement it, unless they contract Baz/Bazinga to write it for them.

Agreed! I found the bidding system reasonably "up to reality" until a few weeks back, since when it has become less and less reliable. FC have acknowledge shortcomings for weeks, but done little (except prattle) to correct it. No wonder people are pulling out. It's time consuming in the first place (unless you place bids well down the list and hope) without it becoming worse as it seems to be.
Lucky I have the time, but there other things to enjoy, (with custard or in a fritter or sliced over a bowl of muesli with cream!)

As you say, not good enough FC.

We'll have to spread a bit lower for a bit Aqui4811, and sell the surplus - not my usual ploy.

(Taken up GSV3MIaC's method.)
Bloody disgraceful! Haulage 4813!!
Refreshed about two minutes from the end. Bid button didn't work. Refresh again - Bad Gateway!! By the time I got back on the site the auction was finished! I wonder how many bids were not put in at the end. I can't see haulage man wanting to pay 11.4%!! so I may have escaped having dead money for a week.
(Got £40 on 4811 but I thought I had £100!!!!)

Just out od curiosity, what does a big Silver Back feel like after he has been shafted by the FC system? Bit like I do, given the power went off here at 16:15 or so, and I missed several interesting auctions - the UPS will only run the wireless router for 15 mins or so. Oh, and yes I had the '502 bad gateway' several times in the interim, working from my tablet. I was running a (PC based) check on just how bad the Fc site was, but the power outage messed that up, at just the wrong time to log those 502s.

Usually practise some new words and shake a large tree until the treats drop on his head!

the UPS will only run the wireless router for 15 mins or so. "We're gonna need a bigger battery!" Seriously, either that is a tiny UPS, or one massive wireless router.

It's a fairly tiny UPS (home model), and was somewhat depleted by the time I'd finished tidy shutdown of everything bar (PCs, NAS, etc etc) the router. Actually it claims to have 36% left now, so I might have managed a bit longer. With FC refusing to talk to me anyway I wasn't inclined to wait to the bitter end. The power companies are definitely getting better (more practise?) , these days they seem to know about outages before I get to tell them. The joys of rural living - hundreds of miles of overhead cables woven through trees.
Yep. maybe a bigger battery, or a better standby generator (the UPS refuses to pass the current one as a usable mains supply, although the freezer thinks it's OK).

Looks like were missing a few numbers this morning, 5222 though 5253, must be in the vacuum bag after last night's spring clean.
(it's morning in my house till at least 3pm)

(it's morning in my house till at least 3pm) That's happened before, they sometimes skip forward to a round number for things like a cashback promotion starting/ending. Sometimes you never work out the logic, other than to make it look like more loans have gone through the market than actually have. It can't be that this time, surely they've got enough actual loans going through

It's a constant annoyance in this house that FC pages frequently launch with some kind of Javascript failure, so the column sort you want is dead, or the drop down menus to post a bid do not work, and the page has to be refreshed to try again. It's been a problem on this site for years now.
