My first car a 53 Beetle (like the one below) was older and slower than me .... so I fitted a Porsche motor and box (why didn't I keep any photos!) Then I moved onto more sensible motoring. But I'm a motorcyclist really, I currently ride a +200bhp supercharged motorcycle that I built.

Don't seem to have any actual pictures so lifted these off Google: My first car (age 16 on the Isle of Man). 1967 Mini Countryman - Then at age 18, when a long load space in the back and a tow hitch proved more useful, a 1980 Land Rover 109 S3 Safari -

Then at age 18, when a long load space in the back and a tow hitch proved more useful, a 1980 Land Rover 109 S3 Safari - Our current fleet contains an s3 88". Utterly ridiculous in all practical ways - the back is tiny, and gawd knows what it does with all the fuel, because not much gets used for forward motion. I love it. The rest of the fleet? Three Citroen 2cvs (one normal one, one van, one Mehari - tupperware jeep. Van and Mehari are projects) Two VeloSolexes (think of grandmere's cast-iron bicycle, with a 50cc hairdryer on top of the front wheel) 1988 VW T25 camper (our home for a year and a half and twenty countries, a couple of years ago) ...even the nice sensible everyday car is 19yo. Previous crimes against automotive common sense include four Citroen CXs, a couple of proper Saab 900s, and some Alfas. Both SWMBO and I had 2cvs as our first cars - her first one is the one we've still got, <mumble> years later. One of the Slowlexes...

My first was a 1927 AC I.5 Tourer bought for £40, but my second one which I paid £100 for and used every day, was a 1922 Aston Martin shown in the link below. The present owner has owned it since 1958 just after I sold it for £125. One of the very few cars I sold for more than I paid. astonmartins.com/car/bamford-and-martin-twin-cam-16-valve/

I bet you wish you had it now... value today? No idea, but one of the production tourers with a replica racing body sold for over £230,000 at auction.

I started with a Triumph Herald (navy blue with a white stripe) in 1975. It was a D reg and cost me £200.
Since then:
Triumph Spitfire (wreck); Renault 5 (); Opel Commodore(I became known as the "Executive Student"); VW Scirrocco(first decent car); Saab 99 Turbo(complete lunatic,but wish I still had it); VW Golf GTI(bit of a disappointment); Saab 9000 Turbo(the acceptable face of lunacy); Porsche 944S(not as good as the real thing); Mercedes 300CE AMG Coupe(absolutely loved it but became a money pit);
AND NOW
Jaguar XKR 4.2 supercharged (licence killer, but what a drive).
Sorry if I've bored the ar*e off everyone

I had a Saxo first that lasted ten months until I got a TVR Chimaera 500. Then I had my first kid and got a Saab 93 Turbo, marketed to the then-wife as a "child friendly convertible". Now I'm on the "Acceptable face of lunacy" with an RS6 which has enough space to be a sensibly family car to fit all three kids in. I'll keep this a good few years. Fabulous car.

Renault 5 () My first car, and I agree with your sentiments. It doesn't deserve a picture. After that I left it ten plus years before buying a new Mini. Then, on realising that I drove it so little it was effectively a pile of tenners blowing away in the wind I sold it. Haven't had a car since .
