Oh no your not alone.. I have been T.W.O.* all my life.
My first road vehicle was a Yamaha FS1E, it was a 50cc road rocket when I was sweet 16
Now my "best bike" is this little Duck Multistrada.
* Two Wheels Only Ohhhh. Now we're talking.. proper nostalgia. My first fizzie , and same as you... sweet 16. Then a suzzi 50 (they were faster than fizzie.... i reckon ) and then a suzzi x7 and then my vauxhall viva. PS. who is going to be the first to admit they had a "Plastic Pig"

I often wish I had taken photos but sadly never did, however they would all appear by searching Google. There is even a UTube video of the 1922 French Grand Prix showing Count Zborowski driving the Aston, so here it is: www.youtube.com/watch?v=hE8deVUDhF4

Here we are then, found from the back page of the local paper seconds after passing my bike test on a Vespa 125, in July 1982. Unfortunately the young Captain could not recognise a blown head gasket and the seller knew exactly the length of test run to allow before overheating. On a steep learning curve (and you need to become a practical mechanic to run a Bug) I diagnosed the problem, stripped the top of the engine, and then could not budge the head with anything, so had to fork out for a recon engine. Cost a fortune to sort it all out, but I still have this car, which goes by the name of Colin. I should say this is a Bond Bug 700ES, for all you young people.

[Admin Note]
The forum has VERY limited storage space for attachments, and this single thread has consumed over 10% of the allocation in the week or so its been live. The Dads joke thread is also a major consumer of attachment space.
Personally I would prefer that we reserved the storage space for documents such as the p2p default loss tax guidance that were posted yesterday, rather than photos of cars, but that's just me as a major p2p investor.
Clearly we are going to need to start managing the attachment storage on the forum, so I'll remind everyone that the request for additional forum administrator / moderator volunteers is still open.

registerme has added a new thread here explaining the difference between attaching images to a thread (which consumes the forum storage allocation) and posting a link to an image file hosted elsewhere.

mg mga.. 1958...le mans... or Ted Lund / Colin Escott Le Mans 1960.. i think Ted is 6th from the left... i love this pic. Afterthought... Is this "Sebring"?.... but looking at the chateau/hotel in the background,.... USA? you would only find a property like this in the french quarter in new orleans/jackson square area , ( been there 3 times, always on bourbon st, where the action is. ) but a bit too far from florida, so had to be france. Thankyou James for the pic ... made my day.. ps.. is colin in the pic?

You are right with the MGA Twincam which finished 12th at Le Mans in 1960. I think Colin is the one nearest to the car and the person second on the right is Arnold Pownall who organized the entry with the North West MG Car Club. I was just there as a hanger on but had a pass for everywhere including the pits and shared a tent outside the team hq Chateau in the photo with 2 friends.

After a lot of reminiscing/recalling (and disagreeing) me and my other half have agreed our list. 3 bikes, FS1E, SUZZY 50 AND SUZZY X7 Cars. (As near as we can remember) Reg-suffix and prefix. J reg Vauxhall viva 1100cc blue N reg Vauxhall chevette 1300cc orange (with cibbies) N reg Austin allegro 1750cc brown (quite nippy) N reg Ford Capri 1600 GT blue P reg Ford escort Mexico yellow W reg Talbot solara grey ( bought from auction for £500, tarted it up sold it for £1000. my first ever 1k) R reg Triumph Toledo 1500 white (horrid) S reg Triumph dolomite sprint 1800 yellow with black vinyl roof. (I loved this car) T reg Ford cortina mk4 1600 white V reg Ford cortina mk5 1600 yellow E reg Vauxhall astra GTE 1800 white (quite fast) G reg Ford orion ghia 1600 silver/grey (quite fast) K reg Mazda 626 2000 white (ultra quiet and reliable) K reg Renault 19 1400cc white (nail) L reg Honda prelude 1800 white (old time luxury) K reg ford fiesta XR2 1600 silver K reg Ford sierra sapphire 4X4 RS Cosworth blue (frightening, very frightening) 04 reg Citroen C2 VTR 1600 black(nippy) W reg saab 900 turbo (nutter of a car) W reg bmw 320i 2000cc silver V reg bmw 320i convertible 2000cc green Y reg bmw 330i convertible 2900cc silver 02 reg Toyota land cruiser Colorado 3000cc black (great for the kids/dogs and 7 seater) 05 reg bmw 320i silver 07 reg audi A6 2.7 S-Line Le Mans black (absolutely awesome) 07 reg bmw 650i coupe (not very practical with 2 boys and a dog) 08 reg range rover vogue 3.6 V8 black (too agricultural for my liking) 09 reg audi Q7 S-Line 3000cc (still got it today, superb all rounder, but a bit thirsty) now on 135k and runs like new. cannot ever see it going, Di luvs it. Weekenders over the years. 1968 MG Midget (NB. i do not and never have had a beard, nor do i like ale with twigs and mud in it) 1974 MGB GT 1975 Fiat 124 spider 1990 AC Cobra replica (with goggles) 1990 Mazda eunos roadster V-Spec auto. at the time i got it, it was reckoned to be the only one in the uk, as they were only made for the Jap market. 1998 MGF Abingdon. (My dad loved this car, so i gave it him for his 70th birthday, he's still got it today) 2003 Honda S 2000 (todays weekender) Holidaying around UK with wife and 2 dogs at the mo in a Coachmen Mirada 29KS. No doubt i will be editing. My memory as i get older. Edit;- Never bought a car newer than 2 years old. Never bought a car on credit/lease or anyway but cash. Don't know why, because the depreciation of a car in this day and age is nearly always more than a finance/lease package would cost... Just old school i suppose. Edit No2:- There's a funny story linked to the old school way when i went to buy our motorhome.

Nice. my current ride is a 2011 Audi A6 Avant 2.0 TFSI S-Line Le Mans, recently remapped. Awesome indeed. A fellow owner told me "Once you've gone Audi, you never go back". He might be right.

Totally agree, tried out the beemers, and they are good, but the audi's just seem to have that little something extra, i think its the build quality and the overall tightness of everything, the Q7 is the second best car i've ever had, it covers all the bases, powerful, 7 seats, top quality interior, sat nav, 4x4 and the list goes on... but... the top accolade for me has to go to .... "K reg Ford sierra sapphire 4X4 RS Cosworth blue (frightening, very frightening)" I know this next statement is not politically correct, but i was young then and please accept my apology.. but.. i was on the M1 outside lane, south of leeds early morning, on my way to Glasgow in the cosworth doing <head hung in shame> 135mph... i was flashed out of the way by an Aston martin db7. This car was just fantastic, (if your a young-un) if you looked past the crappy ford build quality and just enjoyed what the car could do, it was truly awesome, i would not dare get in one today. strangely i have never owned a merc and never even fancied one.

I've been driving an E class for the last six years and loved it. Had circumstances not changed (company relocating out of Belgian tax hell to go to Prague) I would have ordered a new one nearly a year back. As it was I was talked in to taking a now surplus to requirements Audi A4 instead, as taking on a new lease on the Mercedes would have been very silly if it had to go back after 6 months. Anyway, I found the Audi a good solid car, well built but astonishingly boring. But then it was the 1.9 diesel specially strangled to avoid tax on power. Mind you, everything seems to be strangled by tax in Belgium. The A4 just died, or a bit of it did. A wheel bearing I think. I dumped it back at the office and picked up a now also surplus to requirements A5 Sportback. Very pretty car and better than the A4 in every respect. I did once test drive an A6 as a possible alternative to the Mercedes, but I just preferred the Mercedes. The Mercedes engine seemed punchier, the auto gearbox smoother with better responses. The Audi engine was smoother and quieter though. In the end the interior swung me back to the Mercedes, much nicer than the Audi. Much nicer than most anything, really. Anyway, quite pleased with the A5, just a pity that in all the company upheaval that it's obviously been passed through a few hands and not all have taken care of it. Only 30,000 or so on the clock and there are loads of scrapes and scratches when you look closely. Pity.

Whilst I have a couple of bikes presently my most unusual one is a Blackbird (cbr1100xx) that I've bored and supercharged, zx12r front end, blade rear end and I've lightened it ..... a lot. A real 'fun' ride Storage space suggests I don't post a photo! EDIT I've done strange things with cars as well, did you know you can fit a Rover V8 into a Hilman Imp with a Hewland box?

Hi xyon.. i totally agree with you , audi's do have that little bit of boredom about them, maybe when new, they are, too over engineered, i didnt see anything there about beemers, so ill take it we agree there, the beemers are a good car, but its the perception of people who drive them.. not so good. I am open to trying a merc and i keep thinking i'll have to give one a try, tho not sure which one yet, i like the look of the C class. my son driving an A5 at the mo, he loves it, (but hes a young-un) but the A6, its a big heavy car, and to get the best out of it you have to go with a big engined A6, preferably S-line and not diesel, theirs no such thin as a fast tractor. Please , by all means, try and convert me to merc, i am susceptible, and may even try one next, wont be a new one tho, we love the q7 too much.
