I am starting to think this is just a web counter and not the real number of investors at all. 8530 now. It's definitely not a web counter ( that number would be 100s if thousands; but I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic) ! It is generally accepted that the " number of investors" is simply everybody that has signed up to SS, not active investors (which my guess is between 2500 & 3000). Yeah CD I was taking the P.....

I thought as much You know, I'm surprised that the FCA don't frown on (what I would consider) misleading figures on the SS landing page.

Wonder if showing a loan in default before someone even logs in will slow the number of new members. That's exactly what I was thinking. The defaulted loan could be around for months, and that could, in turn, adversely affect the uptake of new members (one of the first loans they will see on the SS site is the BIG RED BOX). ATM, not a bad thing as there is more than enough money about; but give it a month when some of the larger pre-fund loans come through, SS could find it hard to fund those loans... Not sure about this putting new customers off. The fact they are showing wart(s) and all may be an advantage. Warnings of possible defaults are mentioned everywhere you look, so 1 BIG RED BOX out of the many loans shown is probably better than showing 0, leaving the potential investor wondering if there are any defaulters, and if so how many.

Over 9000 and the last few new loans only 1500 or 1600 actually buying loan parts, I think the active number is more likely to be 3000!

We are still steady on the members joining, after a dip, post-brexit.

Seems SS are upping their advertising (taken from their facebook page)...
Should increase the number of investors on the platform.

The only number that matters is the number of active investors. Lots of people sign up to websites to have a nosy and then don't take it any further or they are active and then become inactive. But their accounts stay on the system database even though they have long since gone.
I sense there are fewer active investors at the moment than there were six months ago or one year ago and that can only be down to the current economic and political uncertainties that we all know about and I think it is obvious and inevitable that quite a lot of people who were quite happy to invest here are sitting it out at the moment and watching and waiting to see how things pan out in a wider economic sense, in a personal economic sense and in a saving stream sense.
You can't blame people for not wanting to increase their exposure to Investments like this at a time of uncertainty with regard not only to the UK property market but with regard to all sorts of other things as well.
A sub 1 million pound loan with a 365 day term would normally be massively oversubscribed yet in this case it seems fewer than 1000 people wanted a piece of the pie. That speaks for itself. And it's got nothing to do with the particular characteristics of this loan because in the past people ploughed big sums into worse looking investments because they had a feeling of invincibility which has now gone and been replaced by some trepidation and nervousness.
I would say the reticence and nervousness started with PBL 20 being put in official default and for some reason That Rocked quite a lot of people and made them wise up to the realities of this kind of investment. And then just a few weeks later the UK voted to brexit and that amplified the default concerns by 1000 percent. And that is where we stand.

Is there a statistic available that Shows where the Investors are form? I think most will be UK, but it would be interesting how many international Investors there are (Count me there )
