Do people really live that close to the wire that a one day delay makes a difference? I mean surely you won't invest the all the money that you need to pay the bills and keep no buffer at all. Seems like madness to me. speaking only for myself it's not living close to the wire more like the challenge of getting fully invested and keeping it that way

Do people really live that close to the wire that a one day delay makes a difference? I mean surely you won't invest the all the money that you need to pay the bills and keep no buffer at all. Seems like madness to me. As r1200gs says at the top of the page a lot (perhaps not too many) treat SS as an instant access account. I don't really think the vast majority of people who invest on SS live that close to the edge. On the part of some it is concern that if a payment is expected to arrive at a certain time/date there is a worry if it doesn't, others that they want the money for a specific purpose and try and maximise the use of their money by withdrawing it from SS at the "advertised time" to get it into their bank account so it can be used for that purpose. IMO the latter, whilst fully justified in doing it, are taking an unnecessary risk, if the money is say required for something at 09.59 on a Monday then it must be withdrawn on the Friday, so if it is invested the loan part needs to be sold on the SM sometime during the day, if it were sold on the Thursday even on £10,000 earning 12% the "loss" is only £3.29 aginst an opportunity cost of whatever (but probably significantly more than £3.29) if the deadline is missed. As most platforms have pretty low maximum bids unless someone has preferential access to offers it is pretty unlikely that the sums involved will even reach these levels, given that a whole host of things can go wrong (SM could "freeze", SS could have IT problems, a power cut, your account at XYZ bank could be frozen, as has happenned with two banks in the last few months etc etc).

Does anyone know is SS did a payment run this morning (Sat 11th Feb) ??
I got the "please resolve negative balance" email yesterday morning which was fair enough, and so made a payment last night, but then I got exactly the same email this morning ?
Either they have somehow failed to receive my payment , or they sent out the "please resolve negative balance" email again this morning without first checking if any payments had come in and crediting them to our accounts ??

I did drop Paul64 an email about this (with a link to this thread)
His response
I guess it's still on the to do list.
Given the upcoming changes which have provided focus on SS actually doing deposits and withdrawals more reliably, have decided to test to see if this is being implemented yet and made a withdrawal request at 0745 today. Will report back (opportunity for positive feedback savingstream ). You can safely ignore that email from Paul. I had a withdrawal request paid out at 7.45 am last week.

Second at 08:35 may or may not be within processing window.

Hi , does anyone know if withdrawals for today (Friday 17th February) have been processed yet ?
I submitted a withdrawal request at about 9.55 am this morning , and I'm just wondering if I'll get the cash today or not. Also if it's not today , is it more likely to be tomorrow (Saturday) or Monday ?
Thanks.

I made two withdrawals on Wednesday morning - about 7am - which still haven't been received. Other later withdrawals have been (same bank).
Have queried it and awaiting their response.

Did your 2 withdrawals on Wed morning happen to be for the same amount ? Just asking because if you make 2 DEPOSITS for the same amount, the SS system throws a wobbler and doesn't apply the deposits. There are a few recorded instances of this on the forum, and it has also happened to me personally. So ...... I was just wondering if your issue could be the same thing happening in reverse ie. withdrawals instead of deposits. However, this is only a possibility if your 2 withdrawals were for equal amounts.
