Presumably only to revoke it shortly afterwards. Honestly, the idea that the US will do the UK any 'favours' on trade deals based on 'special relationship' or historic links rather than their own self interest is, well make your own mind up. Presumably if it did happen, it won't be on terms as favourable as NAFTA as that would look a little bit 'odd' given your campaign promises.

Parliament discussed banning the racist nylon toilet brush earlier this year so I don't think his love for the Special Relationship will run very deep.

Before P2P, savers put a guinea in a piggy bank, now they smash the banks to become guinea pigs.

President Trump: anyone think of any positives? Trump is going to shake up NATO. There are too many countries not paying their fair share. Perhaps we should use this in Brexit negotiations, and get a free Trident upgrade.

I was shown some operating instructions yesterday that may come in handy soon:
Press north and south poles simultaneously for 5 seconds to reset planet earth.
I suggest we use this as a last resort. Who knows when it will reset to? Height of British Empire, Spanish, Mongul, Egyptian, dinosaur... or maybe no life at all?
As always, instructions are either too brief to be any use, or so detailed no one can be bothered to read them.

The Trump card has been played, but it will turn out to be the Joker.

Fascinating result yesterday; Clinton won the popular vote by about 200k but lost the election - that's showbiz, I guess. Shocked me that 47% of eligible voters didn't vote.
Why does this keep happening? Why is the progressive/moderate/liberal/left vote getting hosed in every vote it participates in recently? (GE2015, IndyRef, Brexit, and now US2016)?
Who knows.
I think, however, the reaction to each perceived setback pretty much guarantees its repeat the next election/ref. Instead of mature critical reflection, the losing sides leaders fall over each other avowing to double-down on the very strategies that lost the previous event.
'It's not us, it's you' they scream hysterically at the winning side. In reality, the playbook of demonising people who don't agree with you is a failed model and should be consigned to history. It's a vote loser, or discourages participation.
And they won't be able to change anything from the position of perpetual opposition.

The conspiracy theory that DT was a Democrat 'plant' is only strengthened by his softening stance on Obamacare... (it was the only way they could stop HC from taking over) ☺

Britain and America have both replaced liberal elites with illiberal elites. Chances are the swing voters will see that blaming foreigners and minorities doesn't help, and they'll return to whence they started. That's what I, and anyone else who's opened a history book, is hoping. And what's the alternative? If you can't beat them join them? No thanks, I'd rather emigrate to New Zealand.

Let's all hope that the old adage - It doesn't matter who you vote for, you always get 'the government', still holds true. The US has many checks and balances - up to, and including, a straightjacket.

On a sombre note; The Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial is a salutary reminder of the amount of effort and lives expended by America the last time Europe was at war. They can hardly be blamed for questioning whether it would be worth repeating it in the future.

I thought it was the Soviets wot won it, and suffered 20-30 times as many deaths as the US or UK, perhaps Trumps is right and the Russkies deserve a bit of respect.
