No doubt Funding Circle will tell the borrower what happened to prevent lenders bidding the rate down, and refund a good proportion of the borrowers fees.
EdiT Ah. Back. Auction ended. Almost in the position it was when the site crashed. Around £42,000 of bids at 13.3% and 13.2% which would probably have been bid down to around 13-13.1%.
Higher rate for borrower.

In defence of FC on this occasion it looks like it's a Rackspace wide failure as it's affecting our site as well as a couple of others I know host with them, although another site is up so it's only a partial failure for them. No idea yet on likely timescales for resolution.

Yep site down: See: www.websitedown.info/fundingcircle.comSo you know it's not just you or your ISP. If I was a FC borrower and the site went down during my auction I would be livid, it closes getting stuck at a high rate. How's that fair? FC - Surely this auction* should be rescheduled. * And others that suffer as a result of a lack of your investment. Up again! Auction over. Boo Hoo (at least for the borrower and probably a few hundred FC lenders).

Probably excess load from the bargain hunting bid bots
Do FC Care? - No
Will FC Restrict the Bots? - No
Has the borrower been ill served (Substitute Anglo Saxon colloquialism of your choice)? - Yes

OK - FC not to blame on this one. Certainly I think rerunning the auction should be considered for the borrower.... or the option of some kind of fee reduction.
Now, all have a cup of tea before the £200K grocer with questionable figures takes off. (I'm not in on that one)

Nah, it wasn't the bots this time .. DNS failures and 502 errors from 1659 until 1715 or so .. and the volume wasn't even that high at the time as far as I could see.

FC may not be directly at fault for this situation, but they are certainly responsible for how they respond to the problems it caused.
FC too big to care?
Wasn't there some hint of regulation?

Yeah locked out with less than 2 mins on 7170 to go, great. Edit: if everyone else could just stop hitting refresh for a little while I might be able to get in! Sorry, what was that you said? I was just taking the paperweight off my F5 key. I also got knocked and locked out of 7170 ...

7170. I spoke with FC representative shortly after the auction closed. By then the representative was not aware what was cause of the problem.Promised an answer by email. I suppose there will be an announcement. It would be fair to both lenders and borrowers if the auction is rescheduled. On 7163 a single investors bid £960 18 times at the last minute of the auction. I was told that manual bidders are NOT restricted to the proportion they bid on each loan .

Ah, so the vertically enhanced one does sometimes re-enter an auction nearer the close - usually noticed them front loading the thing at 14.4%. Still, that one at that rate they are welcome to, IMO.

Is there something they're all not telling us? Yes, clearly: what time it was going to come back up again.

I dunno, but I do know I can't figure out how to script the new page (ie automatically set markups and sell parts) ... anyone out there solved the problem yet?!

What technology do you use for scripting? if you're using Selenium webdriver it should be straightforward

Nope, nothing advanced, just ie driven by VBA. I think I've cracked it now, just going straight to the JavaScript/json, once I persuade ie that json should be displayed, and not downloaded as a separate file.
The new pages ARE more elegant, it's just the changeover that is a pita.
