I can see why eg 3 consecutive days may have the same rate, losing the differential, due to rounding, but not why 123 and 143 days come out the same %, whilst 125 and 137 days fall behind 143 and 144 days. It's mostly due to the rounding, but there are other factors. The 143 day part will have a higher price because of the additional accrued interest, so that will tend to depress its effective rate. The interest still to be earned would seem to be the same for all parts because they all have the same number of days to run to maturity, but they still might differ by a penny because the future interest is the difference between the total interest to be earned on that part and the interest accrued so far. There's also a rounding effect due to different sized parts. If the interest accrued on a £25 part is 120.4p, then its price and effective rate will be based on the rounded amount of 120p. The interest accrued on a £50 part of the same age would be 240.8p, so its price and effective rate will be based on the rounded amount of 241p. Since that's not exactly double the amount for the £25 part, its effective rate will be different. It's a complicated/confusing situation, but I don't think I can make it any clearer. You might try experimenting by putting some of your own parts on the SM if you have some parts that are bigger than £25. You could put £25 of the part on the SM and note the effective rate, and then edit the amount to £50 and see what difference it makes. Then try £75, etc. (Be warned, however, that different aged parts have different effects. For instance, the interest accrued at 12% on a 146 day old £25 part is 120.0000000000p (exact), so at that age there's no rounding required for parts of any size.) OTOH, you could just accept it's complicated and not try to understand it. I wish I could!

I hereby withdraw any thoughts I might have had about understanding how the effective rates are calculated on the FS SM. I came across a couple of examples of inconsistency today where I haven't a clue what might have caused them. I've highlighted in red on the attachment a couple of cases where a pair of parts of the same size, with the same number of Days Active, and being offered at identical discounts, are showing different Effective Rates. I don't understand how that is possible. fundingsecure : Can you please explain?

fundingsecure, can I suggest that "Accrued Interest to Date" (currently found only at the very bottom of the "My investments" page) also be displayed on the "Account information" page, ideally in the space below "Total" in the "Earnings to date" box. Whilst clearly not part of cash earnings until paid, accrued interest provides a useful indication of overall portfolio "maturity"!

Split of interest bought and premium/discount in the excel export so that account can be reconciled to cash + earnings.

Before P2P, savers put a guinea in a piggy bank, now they smash the banks to become guinea pigs.

fundingsecureThe search function doesn't appear to get cached any longer. If I search for a loan, switch to a different screen and switch back, the search criteria is lost. This is quite annoying. Can this function please be restored ?

Happy to oblige - the function has now been restored.
The change on the users interface came about as a result of an internal change - happy to change back.
I wonder if any investors would actually prefer it removed ........

I wonder if any investors would actually prefer it removed ........ I also find the cached search selection is helpful when flipping between pages.

I much prefer a website that remembers how I want the displays to look rather than me having to enter the same requests over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Personal preference. Having sticky tabs to control how many rows are visible and sort order selection makes a lot of sense. I (personally) don't like the search box to be sticky - I tend to use ctrl-f. We have had a few investors phoning to ask why they can't see all rows on a particular page - only to then realise that it is because they previously used the search box and forgot about it. Difficult to please all the people all the time FS
