I made a deposit last night at around 9.30pm and another this morning at around 8.15 am. Both were credited around 8.45 am.
Their system for deposits is poor and should be improved so everyone knows when monies are likely to be credited.

d_saver, lobsterFYI - I made a deposit at about 10pm last night and another at about 7:30 this morning. They both arrived, one slightly behind the other at about 8:35.

Based on the length of time it takes, my guess is that the 'bank run' process is entirely manual.
Get the bank statement, and gradually work backwards from latest entry. This will be error prone and will take ages if there are a lot to do. I suspect you are right, but if the case, it shows how ridiculous their workflow is. Even without live transaction data, it's a feature of almost every business account these days where you can _download_ a statement. Simple script, balance check, done in a minute. I've built these systems several times. It would pay for itself in terms of labour saving and customer satisfaction in days. C'mon SS. Having said that, it has created an opportunity to deploy funds, if they ever turn up. Otherwise, I doubt I would have put this amount towards SS again.

A bank run is a different thing and quite scary.

I'll be furious if the SM dries up before this is solved and my initial deposit from last night turns up!

I just got a reply to the email I sent yesterday.
'Thank you for your email. Your deposit has been credited to your account. Please note that funds deposited before 5pm will be credited to your account the following morning, with the exception of weekends when deposits will be treated as a Monday deposit and will be credited on Tuesday morning'
Unfortunately, that isn't the case. My balance is still 0.00 and I've a full transaction missing from yesterday. I guess the 2 transactions are confusing them. Interestingly, I note one of the reasons for the ineptitude of the person I spoke to yesterday - It's an outsourced answer service. Nothing against these at all. I used them. It does explain why they could not answer simple queries about the product/workflow. My opinion of SS is slipping further.

Mmmm, it would appear that deposits made LATER ON last night have been processed ok , but those that were made earlier in the day have failed to be credited to our accounts. I have messaged SS , and so as my wife, as a matter of urgency. Extremely frustrating - now of all times ............

mine has just arrived. Of course, If all the goodies are gone by the time you get funds SS will keep your cash all weekend! May I ask at what time (roughly) you made your deposit yesterday? Thanks.

Before P2P, savers put a guinea in a piggy bank, now they smash the banks to become guinea pigs.

I made one large deposit nearly 24hrs ago and it hasn't cleared yet. From reading other comments on this thread it seems the best policy is to make multiple small deposits, at least some go through quickly. Of course that will mean extra work for SS. So Paul64 can we please have an explanation of what is going on ?
