DUDE, You do know that Lendy didn't organise the thing, don't you? It looks like it was a great week, but that is down to the excellent team surrounding the event; it does need money, which is where the sponsor comes in. Nobody thanks Barclaycard for a successful premier league season (i do know that they no longer sponsor it - it's the only one I could think of)YES, I was FULLY aware of that point. Where in my posts did I indicate to you, that you needed to ‘formulate’ a question along those lines? MAYBE it is just a coincidence that Lendy Cowes Week, which is from the 29th July to 5th August 2017, that there has been many purchases on the Lendy secondary market, just BEFORE and DURING it? Two VERY positive reviews about Lendy Cowes Week;Lendy Cowes Week: ReviewAs we reach the end of another week of the iconic sailing regatta, Suzanne and Alan share their review of Lendy Cowes Week. onthewight.com/lendy-cowes-week-review/Behind the scenes at Lendy Cowes Week 2017Tom Belger www.bridgingandcommercial.co.uk/article-desc.php?id=12315BTW, I don’t work for Saving Stream/Lendy and I didn’t attend the 2017 edition of Lendy Cowes Week. Neither do I do PR work for Lendy or for any Company… The motivation for me for ALL these posts, has been a simple thank you to Lendy (Saving Stream), for changing my own personal finances in such a positive way. You do know that Lendy didn't organise the thing, don't you? It looks like it was a great week, but that is down to the excellent team surrounding the event; it does need money, which is where the sponsor comes in. Nobody thanks Barclaycard for a successful premier league season (i do know that they no longer sponsor it - it's the only one I could think of)This sponsorship is a good LY... if they were still offering boat loans! As a property based loan company, I can't see the reasoning for this sponsorship except for an excuse to have a bit of a jolly. So I can't see it attracting new lenders, and while there are genuine concerns surrounding the loan book, I can't see it pleasing existing lenders either JMO I completely agree. The loan book is under strain, look at all the defaulted loans (some more than 1 year defaulted and still without any resolution), more troubled loans heading for default, a dry pipeline, a sluggish SM and a PF that's taken a hammering. I really don't think it's the right time to be splashing out cash in sponsorship and all going off on a jolly. That's my opinion.

It also helps if the Principals of Lendy/Saving Stream happen to be fanatical boaties!!

The other way of looking at it is that if new lenders (to mop up the SM) and new borrowers (to bolster the pipeline) are both needed - then that's an EXCELLENT time to be doing a big marketing exercise. The people doing the marketing won't be the same ones as hassling the existing wobbly borrowers. Or, at least, they shouldn't. But if they're feeling a bit jaded, then perhaps a marketing exercise that gives a nice day out of the office is a good thing?

I attended Cowes Week and was shown great hospitality by Tim and Liam and the rest of the team, it was also really useful to have a proper face to face chat with them all. Whilst a long-standing investor in SS/Lendy, I have (sometimes publicly on this forum) had my issues with them, and have indeed reduced my £ with them over the past year or so. As someone who was there, I have to say that I think that their sponsorship of Cowes week was an excellent thing. There was lots of marketing bods wandering about speaking to people and getting them to visit the stand, and the average Cowes week attendee would certainly seem to be the target audience for P2P investing. Having their name splashed everywhere over the event will only raise their profile and the profile of P2P in general which can only be a good thing for Lendy and the wider industry? The team at Lendy came across as very professional, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I know only too well from personal experience and from reading the forum, that they certainly have their faults, and are trying to grow their business in a new, fast growing and competitive sector, where even the regulator is still making it up as they go along, which throws up lots of challenges. Whilst many issues rumble on (yes I'm invested in Exeter!), these do damage their business and anyone that thinks that they don't care about that has to some degree lost sight of what they are trying to achieve here. Even if the number of defaulted loans increases greatly, I will have earned a significant sum in interest over the 3 or 4 years I have been investing with them, and I would imagine this would be the case for many of the Lendy detractors on this forum. I do think we sometimes lose sight of that and the fact that this is a young team working hard to build a successful business in challenging times. Please don't shout at me if you disagree............ #justsaying

Dear justsaying, thank you so much for taking the trouble to join us out in Cowes and for bothering to write about it on the forum. We were very proud to be able to get so involved in so many aspects of the event, and we are looking forward already to 2018 and to seeing a great many more members of the forum out there. We'll all have much more notice next year Paul64 Lendy Support

Dear supernumerary et al, while it is early days, we did look at the numbers leading up to and during the regatta and we were able to see its impact, with registered users topping 17,000, which is up 700, and £2.75m in new money raised, since we signed the Cowes contract. During Lendy Cowes Week itself we had 215 new users join who added £1.32m in new funding to the platform. We'll be keeping watch over coming months. Have good weekends. Paul64

Paul64 It would also be nice to know what the approx. cost of the sponsorship deal was, 'cos to me it doesn't look like it is worth it, 'cos the number of new loans covered and the reduction of the SM have not significally changed since Clowns Cowes week..........perhaps you should try sponsoring the British Formula One Grand Prix next year, a much larger, more diverse and popular sporting event, but your budget might only cover the soles of Lewis Hamilton's racing footwear!!
