Interestingly the BBC were using kilometres earlier in the day, clearly the queue was not a big enough number in miles to impress. That infographic is straight from the DCMS's official queue counter on twitter. The Beeb's style guide says to use both whenever possible, but put miles for UK stories... www.bbc.co.uk/newsstyleguide/all#d (and look down to "distances") "distances In most cases, use both imperial and metric measures. UK and US stories should usually put miles first, followed immediately by a conversion to km inside brackets."As far as the queue itself goes... any bets on how many people get taken poorly trying to stand/walk that distance over that period? Given the likely demographic skew, I'd say that St John's are going to be busy...

So the BBC likes to promote 3 or 4 politicians who have been banned from China a while back and now are bringing up the Uyghur population as reason not to invite China. Where is the headline commentary on N.Korea being allowed to send an ambassador, Saudi Arabia and plenty of other highly unsavoury regimes with terrible, terrible human rights records. And lets know forget our own abuse in our own backyard of Wales either.... www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-62913220

So the BBC likes to promote 3 or 4 politicians Interesting spin to put on it. Two senior Tory MPs, including a former leader, along with a Tory and a Labour peer, have written to the Foreign Sec to complain about the invite sent to the head of state of a major country... Politico have been sent a copy of the letter, and the Beeb are merely re-reporting that, as is the Indy. Which senior parliamentarians have written to the Foreign Sec complaining about those? You may need to enlighten us as to what you're referring to there...

It would be a bit sad if the Queen, having spent 70 years being diplomatic to all sorts of dubious leaders from all manner of dubious regimes, finally gets embroiled in a diplomatic mess at her own funeral.

How much do you think it will cost flying all these cars about. I'm pretty sure this alone means Biden will have 2 planes fly across the pond, one with him in it and another with the beast in it.
It's not at all green

Congratulations to Roger Federer for being important enough to interrupt the rolling coverage of the queue on the Beeb with news of his retirement

The King is coming to Cardiff tomorrow, parking has been banned most of the week along the route, 2 stretches of road resurfaced, and all the potholes filled, Paths weeded, grass trimmed etc. Basically a deep clean.
what a waste of money, that should have been spent on other projects

...and now the queue has reached the five mile limit, so they've paused entry to it for six hours.
That won't be even MILDLY chaotic, will it? People milling around killing six hours, then racing to join the back of the main queue when it's re-opened. They're probably just forming an unofficial parallel overflow queue... Any bets how long that'll get?

Silver linings ... excellent news for the craft beer industry as the Bermondsey Mile will probably be doing a roaring trade ... and that Shopping Centre is going to be busy
