I have been a bit preoccupied so have only just had a chance to catch up on the queue.
So we now have a queue to join the queue it seems. Good job Covid is all done and dusted.

Will the trains into Paddington be very quiet or very busy tomorrow afternoon?

Hundreds of queuing mourners have collapsed, NHS saysAmbulances have attended to hundreds of people fainting and collapsing in queues for the late Queen, the NHS has said. The ambulance service said it and partner agencies had cared for 435 patients who fell ill along the lying in state queuing route and surrounding areas by the end of Thursday. The London Ambulance Service (LAS) has drawn up plans to deploy an extra 300 staff on the day of the state funeral, with pressures expected to mount.
On a different occasion they'd be stigmatised as irresponsible people putting unnecessary pressure on the NHS.

Roughly 8000 people die in the UK every week. The weather is not especially unusual for the time of year so you can calculate how many people might die in the queue. Your point is?

There is an alternative queue for people with health problems, but I don't know what the criteria are for getting into that one, not being able to get down the stairs in Westminster Hall may be one, I would definitely not fancy those particularly after standing for 10 hours or so! St John's ambulance are encouraging people to eat and drink to avoid becoming faint.

On the bright side, it's your chance to feel like Royalty, as a 5 mile procession of mourners sidles past gawping as you lie on the floor waiting 6 hours for an ambulance...

...queuing to pay their respects.
Ah, yes... The queue. Fer the love of gawd! They say they'll stop new people joining at 5 miles. Four and a quarter miles. Standing there, shuffling forwards, for hour after hour after interminable hour - night, day, weather - just to be hurried past a box. Madness. Utter madness. There's something quite exquisite about that What3words address including "snail" and "ropes".

Otherwise it's a bit like attempting to climb Snowdonia without proper equipment.

It seems that you are provided a numbered wristband to keep your place in the queue so that you can go for a slash, bite to eat, etc.........who knows, maybe you can even bugger off somewhere for a few hours kip?!

How about bugger off home, and when you number is close to the front then sell the wrist band to somebody who wants to jump the queue

50% chance of 1 out of 350k people walking past the coffin dying over that week. Now if it was 700k then...
