Want to offer odds on the PF being discussed at all in this session? Based on the last three sessions, probably not much. Lenders ask questions about IPOs and cyber security. Attendees at lender drinks tend to be more informed and long standing customers that understand the Provision Fund and more or less presume it's being managed well. Some informally tell me they'd rather it was smaller in order to give the impression of more risk that would keep rates high! That said, at recent conferences Rhydian has explained our recent thinking about using the fund for short term liquidity to fill loans. And why we decided not to, i.e. we listened to our lenders and reacted. We might not have agreed with their thoughts, but lenders are core to what we do and their will should be listened to. Kevin.

Just for the record I am a long standing customer and readily admit that I don't understand the provision fund

alender , I think you may be mistaken and maybe you could reconsider about attending the event. AFAIK, this is not a topic on the RS drinks evening. In westonkevRS 's original post on 23rd Feb 2016, he said: "Secondly a debate on why there aren't more women investors. This is free in the new RateSetter office on Bishopsgate London on Thursday 10th March 2016. The invite is for both the sexes!" Seems that the debate has already taken place, unless I've missed something. Thanks for the info, this is confusing as it looked from the posts this was part of the drinks evening, think I will change my mind about changing my mind and attend.

Few cents: 1. Why not start a new topic for each drinks event? Current is confusing, especially for people who are mixing past event (March) and future one (May) 2. Why did we go off topic so badly? Its about drinks not PC and other stuff 3. I attended March drinks - it was a good event, interesting discussion, good questions, switched on panelists and the food was amazing! 4. I haven't met any other investor, but there was a lot of ladies. 5. westonkevRS was not there. Huge disappointment!!! 6. I haven't stolen any mug, there were no umbrellas 7. Barista was too busy serving beer and wine and he didn't make me coffee, he's dead to me too

I was asking in an attempt to get this thread closer to being on topic... But a great answer. I hadn't thought of the risky=more rewarding advertising approach in quite that way before.

Are you sure you turned up at the right place?

Comrades,
I think there is some confusion, this is a traditional lenders evening with the usual Q&A session.
There is not a segment dedicated to women and investing. However if you want to ask in this session about how many white, male, heterosexual, agnostic, West Country, good looking, high emotional quotient, working class socialists lend through RateSetter we'll happily provide an answer (it's one). Alternatively if you want to ask how our recent forum on women and investing went, we'll happily answer (it's women are not less risk adverse, it's largely linked to disposable income)
The monthly email did contain some links to the events we had held, possibly that's where the confusion lay. But in terms of the segment on the lender drinks, the email said:
"Investor drinks
We'd like to invite you to join fellow investors for drinks and canapés on Wednesday, 25th May 2016, starting at 6.30pm. The event will be hosted at RateSetter's new offices in the City of London.
This event will be a great opportunity to meet fellow investors and members of the RateSetter team to learn more about recent developments and what's in store for the future.
Tickets are limited so please sign-up as soon as possible to secure your place. You are welcome to book tickets for friends who are interested in finding out more about RateSetter."

So I was there (hiding with a beer), unless you're referring top the one "up north".

Wow jlend that must have been a cosy pint with Rhydian and Pete... I personally started lending in mid-2011, so I didn't get an invite! Kevin.

Wow jlend that must have been a cosy pint with Rhydian and Pete... I personally started lending in mid-2011, so I didn't get an invite! Kevin. Peter and John were there. Can't remember who else. Around a table in the public bar with a few lenders I seem to remember. Very personal service looking back at old emails ☺ "...Do give me a call on my mobile if you can't find us - xxxxxx" from Peter. I am not sure if I was clever or a little bit mad lending early on. I like to think the former
