This week marks the fourth anniversary of the founding of the forum, and in that time it has grown to become a very important resource for investors big and small, platforms as well as borrowers, media outlets and regulatory oversight staff. The forum staff will continue to attempt to provide the forum infrastructure needed to facilitate p2p discussions for the benefit of the thousands of forum members as well as the thousands that read the forum as guests.
A couple of months ago the forum staff sought the views of a random selection of the more prolific posters on the forum as to whether the forum could better support crowd due diligence without the constraints of redacting the borrower or asset details. In addition forum staff have engaged with a number of platform representatives who have expressed views based on what was posted on the earlier discussion thread. The outcome has been a general consensus that the concept of restricted access private board(s) for crowd DD merited further consideration, albeit with some concerns expressed, primarily around the potential exposure of posters to libel actions against them.
We are pleased to announce that DD Central, the home for un-redacted crowd DD, has launched.
DD Central contains a general discussion board, and sub-boards for ABL/COL/FS/L/MT plus one to discuss cross platform loans & borrowers. The boards may become known as the "orange pages" as they are shaded in a similar manner to the AC Private Board's "pink pages". The concept may change over time based on user feedback and received advice, just as the whole forum has evolved.
Access to DD Central is available to every forum member who has a historic post count of at least 50, and whose forum profile is not "flagged" (i.e. excluding those who are Representative of ..., Associate of ..., Editor of ...., Runs ..., P2P Blogger etc). Everyone with access to DD Central (with the exception of forum staff) will be flagged "Member of DD Central", just as the user DDCentral (the author of this post) is. A full list of the DD Central members is available here.
All forum rules will continue to apply to posts made in DD Central, with the exception of the need to redact borrower and asset details. By applying for access to DD Central, you specifically agree that you, and only you, are legally responsible for the content of any post (including links) you make on this forum*.
If you post libellous or defamatory content on this forum*, including links to libellous or defamatory content, and the existence of such content is leaked into the public domain, you may be prosecuted for libel / defamation. If as a result of that libel or defamation, a borrower was unable to obtain credit leading to a negative impact on his/her financial interests, the borrower might claim punitive damages against you.
The intent is NOT to create a two tier forum, and just as with the AC Private board, the presumption is posts should be made on the public forum in the first instance. DD Central should primarily be a repository of background due diligence material, and it is the responsibility of all members of DD Central to ensure a suitably redacted summary of all key information they post on DD Central is posted onto the public forum in a timely manner. Failure to do so may result in access to DD Central being withdrawn.
Simply send a PM to the user DDCentral (press this link) to request access. Please be patient, as there are potentially several hundred people who may request access.
* For clarity, these statements are a reminder of the potential impact and consequences of the forum rules regarding any post made anywhere on the forum.
