That’s a good point. We don’t know which MPs or Royals are psychologically fit for their duties. Do they take mental MOTs to ensure they are psychologically fit for their roles? The best part, who can tell them they are unfit when they fail their mental MOTs? I would imagine Churchill would have failed and many other significant leaders that were great, but you wouldn't want to look too closely at their lifestyle, etc. You would have to be a bit nuts to even want these poison chalices. Can't get to the article, but I guess aides would say that particularly after she departed, to distance themselves from anything she did or said. As the legendary Humphrey Appleton said, the opposition are not the enemy, the enemy are behind you. Not that I can think of anything good to say about Truss.

However, I see that the Judge in the bankruptcy case is gouing to look into the sale. I had read that the Sandy Hook victims had in effect ensured that the site did not end up in the hands of an Alex Jones "me too" or an organisation that then hired him to be on it. At the time I read it I felt that could be very dodgy as you would have thought they would have to demonstrate that they had achieved fair value, as presumably the proceeds offset against the settlement. apnews.com/article/onion-buys-infowars-alex-jones-6496f198d141c991087dcd937b3588e9"At a court hearing Thursday afternoon in Houston, the trustee who oversaw the auction, Christopher Murray, acknowledged that The Onion did not have the highest bid but said it was a better deal overall because some of the Sandy Hook families agreed to forgo a portion of the sale proceeds to pay Jones’ other creditors. First United American Companies, a business affiliated with one of Jones’ product-selling websites, submitted the only other bid. The trustee said he could not put a dollar amount on The Onion’s bid. Walter Cicack, an attorney for First United American Companies, told U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez that Murray changed the auction process only days before, deciding not to hold a round Wednesday where parties could outbid each other. Sealed bids were submitted last week, and the trustee chose only from those, Cicack said. Murray said he followed the judge’s auction rules laid out in a September order that made the overbidding round optional. But Lopez said he was surprised such a round of bidding was not held and that he had concerns about transparency. “We’re all going to an evidentiary hearing and I’m going to figure out exactly what happened,” he said. “No one should feel comfortable with the results of this auction.”"Sounds like it's mostly the only other bidder - associated with Jones - that's whining. The beneficiaries of the auction income, the victims, are happy with the sale.

I strongly doubt it is as simple as that.

Jones was never going to be happy unless he got the chance to buy it back for three shiny buttons.
If the Onion bids $500 and Jones' hidden slush fund FUAC bids $600, but one group of creditors said "We'll forego $150 if the Onion get it", then there's $50 more in the general pot with the Onion bid.

How the holy hell did England end up in a Nations League B division ? I take it this means no quarter finals and more international friendlies that no one is interested in, fans' life blood is club football ?

In other MASSIVE news: TON618Key points of the TON 618 black hole: - Mass ~ 40 billion times the mass of the Sun - diameter ~ 30-40 times that of our solar system Now this isn't news at all of course, but it is news to me - or at least repeat news, as I am at a point where I can happily relearn stuff that I unknowingly previously knew but have forgotten. I have seen some fantastic photographs that have come from the James Webb Telescope.
But can I mention one thing that always strikes me when the journalist/scientist is discussing the main object in the frame, and that is the number of "small" objects in the background that are obviously more galaxies.
Which begs the question "what can't we see in this frame because the item is so small that it cannot be picked up by the sensors?"
But what worries me in the wee small hours is that Betelgeuse is due to go bang. Overdue.

I've always thought that space exploration is a waste of money. However, I am fascinated by the Universe.
We live in the Milky Way galaxy, which contains about 100 billion stars. The Universe contains at least 200 billion galaxies (possibly 2 trillion), so out there somewhere there is at least one star (possibly 10) for every grain of sand on the planet.
So when you ask 'what can't we see?, the answer is an awful lot.

.... what are you counting as "Space Exploration" ? Do you actually only mean manned exploration ? All those unmanned space probes are doing space exploration, as are the Hubble and James Webb telescopes (strictly speaking). But I'm guessing you don't mean those. Where do you draw the line?

I've always thought that space exploration is a waste of money. However, I am fascinated by the Universe. "Space exploration" is what's brought us a huge amount of modern communication and science. Without it, we wouldn't have a fraction of modern communications. We wouldn't have GPS - both on a consumer level and on a commercial one, with huge increases in efficiency and accuracy in everything from construction to farming to logistics. We wouldn't have so much of our knowledge of the universe that you find fascinating. We wouldn't have so much awareness of climate change. There's a very, very long list of things built on space exploration...

I 'd be more inclined to ask how the hell did Scotland get into League A England were relegated last time, bottom of their group. Scotland were promoted, top of theirs. England have bounced straight back. Following a last gasp winner last night, Scotland have avoided going straight back immediately but will have a relegation playoff in March.
