I just sold a couple of bits from the ongoing(slow) garage clearance. A part sold for £8 us evri 3.90 postage. After fees, packaging, fuel to take to drop of, I reckon I lost money. If it wasn't for the fact I may have ended up binning some of this stuff, it's prob not worth the hassle. Ebay days a truly numbered. I was even charge for "regulatory " fees ! Have you not been getting the fortnightly 70 or 80% off fees special offers?

Nothing to do with ebay sales plummeting and them desperate to increase revenue?

To avoid starting a new thread can I tack this onto this one - why do Amazon delivery drivers tell fibs. My account says if I'm not in then leave deliveries in the garden shed. Last 2 items I've ordered:
- I wasn't in and received an email to say the delivery was left in my safe place. When I got home it was on the door step.
- I've been in all afternoon and received an emai saying delivery was handed to resident. Opened the front door and it was lying on the step.
Are they really in that much of a rush that they can't take the extra 30 seconds to follow the agreed delivery procedure. And when you get an email saying 'how was delivery' I click on the 'not so good button' and it just takes me to the delivery confirmed page on the Amazon web site (no option to complain).

Ours tend to do the tap and run, we have a perfectly good door bell, but they don't want to spend the extra few seconds waiting for you to open the door and give you the parcel, so they leave it on the step.

ROFL
purchased an item via auction last night which I won for £6.50, as is my normal practice I paid for the item shortly after winning
this morning I received an email "I see you have paid me £6.50 for the item, the description clearly says that the minimum bid is £19.99, why did you bid below my minimum"
my response "good morning, I won at £6.50 because no-one else bid above £6, for information if you wish to set a minimum bid of £19.99 then you set the minimum bid to £19.99 in the listing not £0.99, specifying a minimum bid in the description has no effect . I look forward to receiving the item"
I'm not going to tell him this lens is worth at least £50, and that my maximum bid was well above his stated minimum

I look forward to receiving the item" I'm pretty sure that the seller is being a cheapskate and trying to dodge eBay fees. There is a listing-fee extra for setting a minimum bid price. Even if the item doesn't sell. That's what they are trying to dodge.
I've also seen items with shipping set to e.g. "Royal Mail 1st class" where in the text it says "Pickup only or contact for details". Mainly because the item HUGE and couldn't possibly be sent 1st class post. And, they don't want to add the $HIPPING CO$T to the listing, ending up paying a percentage on the postage cost. By taking the shipping into a side-channel, and doing a "phone for details" they can bill the shipping outside of eBay.
Obviously, all against eBay terms and the sellers shouldn't do that.

"I pride myself on packing items carefully"
OK a fragile Camera lens in 1 sheet of tissue paper between 2 sheets of cardboard then wrapped in a plastic bag, of course writing "Very Fragile" on the label means it will get through the post OK.

Just wasted best part of 2 hours of 2 days, on a dead beat Wanted a lens as a present, needed advice So I pointed him in the right direction. then I start to get questions on individual items "is it Clean" "does it have Fungus" "does it autofocus " Etc so tempting to say read the listing Wrote in one email that "all those not marked damaged or faulty are free from haze, fungus, scratches and yes they do work" Then "is this one boxed, in original box" "No, any lens that is boxed will say so and will have a picture of the box in the listing" "could you buy a box for this one, they are about £5-10 on Ebay" that got a "no but you could procure the box" finally I get 2 emails one on each of 2 listings "will you take £25 for this as I've invested a lot of time discussing this with you" I've got both of these lenses for sale for in excess of £50, so he got a very short answer

You are more patient than i am keitha. If someone can't be bothered looking at the description , I would provide a short response or not at all to obvious questions. Recent question I got... will this fit a 2014 model, ad states 1999 to 2004!!!
Response... no. Google it, it works for most people.

Just noticed discounts on my listed items. Do these discounts come of my selling price or does ebay pay it?

GRR
purchased a camera and lens, with accessories including a flashgun
Fully tested and working
It arrives
The camera lens is loose inside and doesn't even focus, has scratches on the front element and is riddled with fungus The camera body is useless as batteries have leaked ( given the expiry date is 2020 ....) The Flashgun has batteries in - I can tell by the weight. but corrosion is so bad I can't even pry it open.
Asked for a refund as not as described, and definitely not tested. I always ask as an agreed refund is OK, but if you go through eBay it gets the seller a black mark, and I like to give people a chance.
"Sorry mate all sales are final as items are sold as seen"
So I've lodged a claim with eBay

I always ask buyers to open a case if they want refund. Let's do things properly and have everything recorded. It's an easy straight forward process. If it's resolved without ebay resolution, it's not a strike on the seller's record.

If it's resolved without ebay resolution, it's not a strike on the seller's record. I currently have a strike as a seller for reporting a buyer who sent back a different item to the one I sold. Ebay clearly didn't even look at the evidence as I had an email within 2 minutes of the report saying "we have received your report and decided that you must give the buyer a full refund" I'm 2 weeks into fighting to have the strike removed.
