another "what's your best price" question
So I replied and said I would take £14, bear in mind postage will be about £4
"any way you can get this to me tomorrow"
"If you select the Special delivery option and purchase by 2pm today I can get it in the post today"
"can you do royal mail special for tomorrow as the free option"
"sorry no that would cost me too much"
"What bit of 'the customer is always right" don't you understand, you obviously don't understand customer service or the ethos of "always delight your customers""
Blocked !

“can you do royal mail special for tomorrow as the free option"
I would have increased the price by £5 and do fast and free special delivery. 🤣
List as a £23 item, instead of £14+ £4p&p

I've gotta ask, Keith...
What proportion of buyers give you this hassle?
Aren't there easier routes to market?

It's fits and starts
LOL of course 90% of those asking questions never buy anything !
I think with some it's a game, certainly had that at one time with Italians I had a spell where 60% of my auctions sold to Italians who didn't pay or indeed make any contact after the auction ended, I blocked Italy at that point, the other issue being I could post stuff It would be in Italy and with their post Office in 4-5 days but would often be another month arriving.

I blocked Italy at that point, the other issue being I could post stuff It would be in Italy and with their post Office in 4-5 days but would often be another month arriving. I hold no malice toward Italians as people, but their customs department is a nightmare and I don't think _they_ know what a farce it is.
Pre Brexit, I used to list items with "+ Europe" enabled on listings. Of course the postage charge was higher, esp. for larger items.
It only took a few items to Italy to realise that "+ Europe - Italy" was a better setting. Because eBay's la-la-land Postage Time Estimator works on theoretical timings. And tells the buyer e.g. "4 days after posting". It does not take into account that Italy's equivalent of Custard And Exercise will take the item and sit on it for a week or more, without this appearing in any tracking, without notifying me or the buyer.
So this triggers the understandable irate "Where is my stuff?" message and then threats to cancel the order.
Of course eBay will quite rightly see that the item is not delivered within the "agreed" time frame ...
I have since seen lots of eBay listings with "Note: I do not ship to Italy" and I don't blame them.
How anyone in Italy buys anything with Customs running interference and blackening the country's reputation, I don't know.
This problem was entirely solved due to Brexit, I don't post nothing to Europe. And when people contact me asking to extend the postage etc. I don't. I do not need the hassle of dealing with that mess as a private seller. Plenty of people in the UK to sell to!

Sounds like nasty competitors want to give you hassles. They might buy your cheapest items and give you a “special” review. 🤣

Competition works for consumers, takeovers and monopolies work for the rich.
" Free selling Earlier in the year, we removed transaction fees for pre-loved clothing. As of 1 October 2024, we are extending this across categories, with the exception of motors. Here’s what this means for you: • Transaction fees were paid when your item sells. We are removing these fees, meaning selling is now free. This applies for both new and existing listings. • Listing fees are paid when you list an item. You will receive 300 free listings a month. • Optional add-on features, such as international selling and promoting your listing, will be available for an additional cost.

It's about time ebay did something. As a seller of my declutter assets it's been a slow journey but better than skipping stuff even with fees. For commercial sellers there are cheaper platforms. I am looking for a 3t trolley jack... onbuy £87, ebay... exact same £117. I can only guess that sellers are adding on ebay fees to reach roughly the same retail price. It's good news... pity I've not much left to sell!

It's good news.
