Given RyanAir et al charge you silly amounts if you are 1 KG over the luggage limit then why is there not a similar weight limit on passengers.
surely a weight limit passenger plus bags would be fairer.
Actually the Airlines are sexist, last time I flew they check-in desk insisted my small camera bag had to go into my carry on bag , yet it was OK for my partner to have a carry on bag and a handbag 3-4 times the size of my camera bag

My wife flew to Bristol from Edinburgh recently. She had a small 20 litre backpack with a plastic frame around the outside to retain its shape. The ryanair jobsworth said it would be an extra 50 quid as it wouldn't fit in the cage thing. My wife smiled, asked if she had scissors and promptly cut of the plastic frame. Apparently the look on the jobsworths face was priceless!!

I was watching an episode of "Aircrash Investigation" (I know, it had been a long day), and in this one, an aeroplane had taken off but the pilot couldn't bring the tail up to level having obtained altitude, the plane stalled and crashed with the loss of all passengers. It turned out that a party of fat people ("Americans") had all gone and sat at the tail end. Passenger average weight calculations used worldwide were revised after this disaster. Maybe Ryanair is making double sure that no fat people cluster problem threatens air safety? Thought it best to check the facts en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Midwest_Flight_5481I'm being unkind, the passengers were only averagely overweight and their baggage and maintenance was also an issue. Typical of how what you choose to remember and what was actually said differ.

I once had a very uncomfortable trip, sat next to my wife and a woman who would be be described as the size of a baby elephant sat in the next seat. She spent the entire flight eating crisps, biscuits etc, and was so big she actually protruded under the armrest 4 -5 inches into my seat.

Avoid Booking.com if you can. They are not just thiefs, the dirty tactic they use is so bad it uses 2.2x credit on my credit card same day.
Long story short. After "purchasing" the tickets, booking.com "refunded" the payment after entering the authenication code and choosing my seats. Then they raised the price by 5% and said my "chosen seats" on my previous reservation not available.
Then creditcard company sent me notifcation I have almost no available credit left.
Also, prices for hotels are 20% more expensive on booking.com compared to the "local" agents.

A bit less sensationalism with the personal stuff but usually pretty darn good overviews/interpretations which come from the air accident reports. He's getting good a supplying graphics now so its not just listening to one bloke drone on and on. www.youtube.com/@mentourpilot

The flight was fully booked, so SWMBO and I got split on the plane. I was centre seat, rear row - the non-recliners. As departure got nearer, I'd still got empty seats either side of me... then I noticed a couple coming down the aisle. It was obvious they were Americans at first glance... Umm, would you prefer to sit next to each other? "Ah, say, that's so kind of you, but we don't really fit next to each other..." They weren't joking. I was absolutely squished tight, barely able to breathe (I'm not small, either - 6'2" and 100kg). The cabin crew were all coming down to have a little look... They did say if there'd been one other seat on board, they'd have moved me, but they were very sorry... They were absolutely lovely to chat to, but eff eff ess... They really should have had three seats for the pair of them. Fortunately, it was only London to Dublin, but even so...

If the hand luggage belonging to your wife was in excess of the dimensions stated in the airline terms and conditions, why is somebody pointing out the error a jobsworth?

On an airline related note, former page 3 girl Sam Fox was arrested and spent the night in jail after 'drunken bust up' on flight from Heathrow to Munich.
