I was born in North London . Enfield was divided in two by the Great Cambridge Road . West :leafy London suburb . East Industial heartland along the River Lee. Best life balance was to live in West and work in East . Now West contains 50;50 white anglo /greek,turkish,asian immigrants. East heavily criminalised by gangs:Albanian ,Black etc. Cars machine gunned ,burned houses etc. A quiet Anglo culture vanishes under the immigration policy over the last 50 years . Am I racist? No ... I now live a mile from my nearest neighbours (welsh sheep farmers). If I lived in my childhood home on a North London council estate I would be heartily pissed off. What a load of rubbish. Voting patterns in London show it to be left leaning and tolerant. You do tolerant Londoners down and it's good you left. Spreading your poisonous stories about machine gun toting Blacks to your landrover driving friends is exactly what sows fear of people with different skin colours among exclusively white communities such as where you live. Those people have become just as British as you are and your comments are distasteful.

IMHO someone applying for asylum should be held in secure accommodation until the case is assessed. yes same are coming from countries with issues, but the large numbers of Albanians as an example should just be shipped back. Albania is a perfectly safe country. yes I feel sorry for the displaced from Afghanistan etc, but I also feel a damn sight more empathetic towards ex servicemen and women who have been badly let down by this country. (  ?) . Then many of them seek shelter in the UK. While we're at it we invade Iraq a couple of times because they have nukes (WTF2 ?). Same result. Would you make exceptions for families with young children? What about the elderly, infirm or mentally ill? Or should we just lock them all up together? Having said that, I do agree with some of the points raised by some on this thread. Mainly why not increase processing times dramatically ? And no doubt the Captain will disagree with me on the next point but why not set up some safe refugee camps until applications are settled? 9/11.... so dont invade and let them decimate whatever they like. Mmm.. thats not the answer unfortunately.. the actions against afghanistan were correct... they not emmigrating to the usa are they?

So we invade Afghanistan because some Saudis killed a few thousands americans in New York ( ?) . Then many of them seek shelter in the UK. Yeah but Afghanistan as a country didn't attack the TT as far as I know? The claim was that they were "harbouring terrorists". As bad as 9/11 was, really bad invasion is several orders of magnitude worse. They didn't go to the US because it can't be reached by land.

I lived in a city probably not as diverse as London I will admit, Most knife crime was Eastern European males fighting amongst themselves or inter nationality fights. I was friendly with a good number and nearly all of them carried a knife. Most of the gun crime was black males. A lot to my knowledge was "cos he didn't show me no respect man" the courts cases often followed the same lines Black youth starts trying to me the tough guy and pushing someone about the "victim" retaliates and the Youth gets a kicking he then goes and gets his mates and knives or a gun and comes looking for revenge Someone often an innocent bystander gets stabbed or shot. I have friends of many nationalities, Asians, those from the sub continent etc most are good people with a work ethic, unfortunately we are getting a group of people now without that work ethic but still wanting what comes with working. Unfortunately all to often when the Police try to deal with issues it's easy to play the race card. For years it was widely known amongst the public what was happening in Bradford and Rotherham, and it turns out the Police and Social Services knew too but were scared to act because the perpetrators weren't white.

adrianc is on holiday and I'm feeling overworked. Look, Britain is a great place and the integration of peoples from all over our empires, and now victims of our unwise participation in America's wars, it's our great success story. Throwback 1970s NF attitudes are dying out with that age group, leaving the air fresher for the kinder more tolerant society that has already developed. Thank you and good night.
