Does his insurance pay out for his damage? If you had a 9yo car with a duff diesel or petrol engine, and decided to blow it up with 30kg of dynamite in an old quarry - all documented on youtube and with press interviews - do you think your insurance would pay? www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_9aVzf5fC4&t=5m11s5.3m views so far. That's probably about US$25k of revenue, but I suspect it cost them a few quid to do - especially since they seem to have decided a helicopter was necessary... Okay, all these unproven new products are better for saving the earth? What's the expected ratio of car owners willing to fork out money to replace the battery? We can't do it ourselves like replacing AAAs? It seems buying an EV is not really like owning a ordinary car. At best, it just owning some metals, alloys and rubbers. The more I think about it, how likely the UK is prepared for EV car transition from 2035 when no alternatives available apart from bikes and public transport?

The guy is obviously a bit of a dick who should have got a second quote, or realised there was a profitable revenue stream from Youtube, given that (from this quoted article) Tesla and Musk have faced a wave of complaints about the cost of replacing a battery, with third party garages providing replacements for a quarter of the cost.
According to electric vehicle news website Electrek, another Tesla owner in the United States was told a battery pack replacement would cost him $22,500 (£16,800) at a Tesla service centre.
Instead, he took it to an independent garage who provided a working replacement battery for $5,000 (£3,762) - less than a quarter of what he was originally quoted by Tesla.

A working replacement battery could be anything, used, remanufactured, cheap chinese. How long does it last? And companies like Tesla and Apple ostracize you if you dare go outside their maintenance and recurring revenue circle grip. Imagine what it would be like for consumers in a world of monopoly dealer only service, that's the goal of all these billionaires.

What about car insurance? do they increase the premium if replacement battery not fitted by Tesla? Meanwhile, the Japanese manufacturer decides to the the right thing by recalling. abc7news.com/toyota-rav4-recall-replacement-battery/14002814/ Not a real comparison for replacing some size battery.

It was 2030 until a few months ago. Governments have to coerce sorry persuade ordinary people to pay as much as possible to get to carbon zero while they line the pockets of existing and emerging billionaires - as if that is the only way to get there. Just like smart meters are a great way to save and use less energy - if you can't count and multiply.

It's amazing the risks you can take when someone else is picking up the repair tab. Teslas are a very popular company car and I'd wager most drivers are not the owner/bill payer.

I know we have topic drift but could this go back on topic a bit? Electric cars is this Octopus in any way? If only we had the 9 brains of an octopus, our tentacles could meander contentedly down many disparate pathways. Saddled with just the one, we're constrained to forever drift on the tide that is Octoplus. Did you know the octopus lives in the shadow of the humble leech, with its 32 brain segments? I suppose Leech Energy was never going to catch on...

So the numbers have come in for the recent 3 sessions and all three were similar for me. That would be great except for the fact I did nothing for the third session and yet it paid a similar amount to the first two.
Since there is no visibility over the calcs, is this a load of nonsense to give active customers 1% cashback ?

And when I went into my account, it wasn't showing as an upcoming event. I think someone said it was a "test" event, so I'm assuming it simply went out to a limited audience for that reason.

I managed to join after logging in. There was an opt in button for me. I did this for my mother too who also never received an email so we both joined but had no notification.
