yet again they deliver evidence at the last minute. the judge has already threatened them for late / non disclosure of evidence. I begin the think his honour may have to hall someone senior from the Post office up in court and say "next time this happens you personally will serve 1 day for each item delivered late." www.lawgazette.co.uk/news/horizon-scandal-inquiry-hit-by-new-post-office-disclosure-failures/5117814.articleAn email was sent by Post Office lawyers late last Friday evening alerting the inquiry to the issue and disclosing 421 documents which had to be read over the weekend. The current position was confirmed at 11.14pm last night.
Kate Gallefant KC, for the Post Office, said the organisation ‘deeply regrets’ that it had not been able to disclose documents in time for witnesses’ appearances. She said this was caused by technical faults rather than any lack of willingness to be transparent but conceded that a ‘significant number’ of potentially relevant documents had yet to be disclosed.

Think that, right from the beginning, The Post Office took their lead from the FCA.

Yes, it is a Government/Quasi-Government absolute rule to constantly deny any and all complete, utter and total failures. Especially and particularly those failures that are provably complete, utter and total. And then quietly sweep them under the carpet.

Sadly a girl I went to school with ran 2 sub post offices on the island and horizon wrongly lost her both businesses , her partner , house and came close to freedom. Even worse only a couple of months ago she was begging on Facebook for rented accommodation as her landlord was selling up. She has never recovered, luckily local people on the island remembered her story and the when I last heard had sorted accommodation out for her . Post office managers I hope were jailed for the way continued to pursue sub post masters when they knew of the system issues.

Even worse, many people (working for ICL pathway, those approved the contracts, top management within Post Office) knew about it for many years and not saying anything about it until many years later.

The whole thing, top to bottom left to right, is absolutely outrageous and it makes me fume. No apology for swearing.

It begs the question if “victims” were targeted as part of the killing plan when not all subpostmasters experienced the same issue at the same time over the years.

Rolled out into production in 1999. Computer Weekly started reporting on it in 2009. Good ol' fashioned investigative journalism. Here we are in 2023, about to be 2024...
"Kate Gallefant KC, for the Post Office, said the organisation ‘deeply regrets’ that it had not been able to disclose documents in time for witnesses’ appearances. She said this was caused by technical faults rather than any lack of willingness to be transparent but conceded that a ‘significant number’ of potentially relevant documents had yet to be disclosed." Irony is not dead.

So I'm watching Mr Bates vs The Post Office. It's available on ITV Online. It's astonishingly good. It's also upsetting, and will make you very, very angry.
I thoroughly recommend it.

Lib Dem leader Sir Ed Davey is facing further pressure over his handling of the Post Office IT scandal when he was postal affairs minister in the coalition government. In May 2010, the Liberal Democrat leader refused to meet Alan Bates, the sub-postmaster who led the campaign to expose the scandal, saying he did not believe it "would serve any purpose".
