The english salesmen, I mean commentators, are salivating like they are something special. Kane has touched the ball once in 45 minutes, does that seem like a team going to win the Euros ?
trent-alexander first half summary, nearly gifted them a goal and fluffed a free kick.

Statistically Kane is the football equivalent of a cricketing flat track bully.
He scores loads against the little teams but is shown up as what he is against decent defenders ie France, Germany, Italy, Spain etc.
For laughs and giggles an online game I play is running a prediction game, the top level prize which is worth about £100 you need to pick the winner before the tournament starts and pick the correct result in every game. I did the maths and even if every game threw up a 2/1 on winner ie for every £1 you put on you get £1.50 back rolling a £1 bet over to all 51 games would return millions

Well Scotland won't be needing a larger trophy cabinet anyway. Is it true their goalie is being treated for a bad back? All that bending down to pick the ball out of his net on Friday... Germany 655 passes completed to Scotland's 193. Ouch.

Meanwhile on the other side of the planet, Thailand needed to beat Singapore by 3 clear goals to get through the final stages of the Asian world cup qualifiers. The Singapore goal keeper played like a superstar with many world class saves, resulting in a 3-1 win for Thailand (sending China through). He's currently being sent money from China by greatful fans.

PS: you forgot to moan about the fact that lots of his goals come from the fact he's the teams penalty taker.

I don't know a lot about football. Although I'm not sure how much there is to know. I do know that both JB and HK have been sensations since they moved abroad, and that HK is the Bundesliga's top scorer. Despite his team not winning the league. I don't know how that can equate with being a flat track bully. It's inevitable that a high quality striker is going to be more successful against weaker opposition for the simple fact that his team will statistically have a higher strike rate against them vs stronger teams. You don't need to know much about football to know that. If in his international career he really is a flat track bully, that might be more a reflection of the team he plays in than HK himself. Although when you can lose to Iceland I'm not sure even that description can be used. I also think I know that, for a striker, Kane is considered to be an unselfish player and one that works hard off the ball for the greater good of his team. I also know that when you have a player who is considered a real threat, it's always going to be part of their job to be a 'decoy'. If they are doing their job right, they are going to suck opposing players in because they are considered such a threat, and in doing so they open up opportunities for their team mates. Much the same as in rugby union.

Jordan Pickford keeps his 10th clean sheet in major competition, drawing level with the legendary Peter Shilton.

Who will have a very bad side this morning is Jarrod Bowen. He bravely used his body to block a powerful cross from one of the Serbian forwards late in the game, when they were most threatening. How he stayed upright I don't know, but I could feel the sting from here as he stumbled on clutching his midriff!

A good indication of today's wash, rinse, repeat borefest for most games unless it's your team is the number of touches a goalkeeper makes... to prevent a goal.
I'll just add the Premier League and neutral fans need Leeds United not Southampton.

So Slovakia beat Belgium. Now for Austria to beat France . EDIT: Not that I'd put money on it.

I assume England will go out on penalties in the semi-finals, as usual

The booking of Mbappe was ridiculous. I'd have sent him off but then again, I'd send people off for cynical fouls.
