The surfing event is being held in Tahiti and they are letting russians compete - colonialism and sportswashing.

Crowd trouble already, is football doing at the Olympics apart from making the IOC members more corrupt than they were before. Football is more justified a place in the Olympics than the introduction of Break Dancing. Can't wait for the qualifiers on 9th August.

Can't wait for the qualifiers on 9th August. and as to those pushing for esports to be included they can clear off, I read something the other week that someone in an esports motor racing team was saying he buys a new pair of racing gloves and racing boots every 2 weeks, getting stupid you don't need the same kit as top racing drivers to drive a car on a screen. Still find the concept of Golf, Football, Tennis etc annoying, they are all professionals. but then if you look at equestrianism much there depends on how much money you have to buy the best horse, for that alone I'd make all the horse events drawn so the horse you will compete on is allocated a few days in advance, BTW listening to Radio 4 last night and they had a top vet on and someone from PETA, and a couple of the stories were horrendous a horse pushed so far that it had to be euthanised after the event, a rider punching a horse and a trainer kicking it, a horse being forced to complete the course with blood coming from its nostrils :- and the vet didn't contradict any of this. For myself I'd happily ban dressage. I for one do not believe the vets assertion that these are perfectly normal movements that horses do in the wild As an aside I see Ms DuJardin has been stripped of funding by the BOA, and sponsors are cancelling deals, Having just watched the video i'm furious someone who is seen by many as an idol is a obviously a cruel animal abuser. she must be banned for life, it wasn't a single strike, and the fact the rider doesn't say anything says to me this behaviour was normal, indeed it it wasn't normal why would you even have a whip at all

Tom Pidcock after a puncture, what a beast - mountain biking gold medal. What a finish, I'm amazed the French didn't appeal even though it was their rider trying trying to cut-off the GB rider. There was stony silence and booing when he came over the line, they are always good losers.

I came back from something (a cycling thing) early to watch it, but still missed the first 30 minutes. The BBC coverage changed channels right at the time he got his puncture, so we all pretty much missed that bit as we re-joined just as he got his new wheel. I watched him in the chasing group for a bit, with him not breaking away or closing that time gap. Then because I had been in the hot weather, I dozed off on the sofa. When I woke up he had got back with Koretzky ! At least I was able to see his rather brave overtake in the trees. I don't think there were any grounds for an appeal were there ? There were two lines you could take at that point, Pidcock hammered it and by the time they touched he was probably a wheel length in front. So Koretzky was in effect cutting back into him. What a rider he is. I literally do not know how he pulled off that recovery.
