savingstream PS, I think you had better invent a system like Assetz Capital whereby we can indicate a wish to buy on any particular loan, and your own hamster will allocate to all those asking (and who have funds available) as parts become offered. And another thing that could be done (but surely someone has already suggested this) is improve the initial allocations when the loan is launched by doing something like Funding Secure: specify a limit per lender for the first 24 hours. Then some of at least wouldn't need to scrabble around in the secondary market, and speaking for myself and no doubt others, I would not be pre-bidding for more than I actually want.I do not think that an FS stye limit for 24hrs would work with the refund here, since loans stay in the pipeline for longer and one can always add/reduce later at will. Something along the lines of what you suggested that I see working is a prefunding limit per person for the length of the pipeline (no matter how much a loan takes to be released). Although this might not give SS the feedback that they are getting with the current system, i.e. a gauge of lender's appetite.

Whilst I agree that the use of bots can be considered as "unfair" the ONLY way to prevent them is to use captchas on the investment pages. Be careful what you wish for .... I'm one of many many people that really struggle with captchas (there is often insuffcient contrast between characters and background for my eyes to interpret them).
For the record I've manually bought parts in various loans today, including 4 figure sums in some.
Hint - if you want some of loan pqr, it might be a good idea to look at / regularly refresh the loan page for loan pqr NOT the list of available loans, as by the time you navigate from the available list to the loan page, the loan part will be gone.

Will captchas work fine on small mobile phone screens? I am asking this seeing the many people who said they use such devices.
Adding to your record, there were loans which stayed available for several minutes today.

Well, I'm still seeing parts coming up for sale, so perhaps people are still rebalancing. Of course, I can't buy any because my deposits haven't gone through yet . You can buy without depositing first And that's a good thing too. I sent some money by FP yesterday evening and it hasn't shown up in my account yet. I suppose that's not too surprising since SS have had their hands full today dealing with the new loans and the website's complete failure to cope with all of the SM activity. If there's still no sign of it tomorrow morning I guess I'll have to send SS an email.

I do not think that this can be attributed to the website. I think it probably relates more to the hardware it is on (the server), or the ISP.

I think I am right in saying that going negative as a result of pre-funding would have prevented me bidding on the SM? (Put to one side whether I would have been able to beat the bots).

I have 2 issues with the new site: 1. The method of setting the amount to sell needs fixing PDQ unless someone can explain how you can set a round figure of say £500.00 for arguments sake instead of having to settle for a stupid amount such as £506.29 or £497.03 to pick out 2 random amounts 2. How the hell do you buy a loan part? How do you set the amount you wish to buy? It’s as clear as mud to me and then you have to contend with the bot(s). 1. Type 500 in the box provided 2. Type 500 in the box provided (or however much you want, but only possible when the bots are temporarily overwhelmed, or are busy dodging flying banana skins ) Oops, a senior moment. Thanks Pepperpot.

I've managed to beat the bots 9 times (total just over 1K) but lost out many many more times ..... I've had a similar experience -- a few purchases, but a lot more cases where there was nothing left by the time I clicked through to the loan page. Not to mention all the times I got to the loan page in time to see something was left -- but found it had been taken by the time my request to buy was processed. It's all been a rather depressing experience.

I wonder how many times you have been beaten, by a bot or a faster finger, when the successful buyer does not have a cash balance and so has gone into deficit. The option to buy without putting any cash up front is not entirely advantageous.

Nope you can go as negative as you want, so long as you fix it within 48hrs

I found this (going negative) very useful today.

To make a withdrawal, I presume you go to cashier then UK withdrawal. If this is correct and I have got available funds in my account why do I get the following message? “Withdraw available funds. Please complete a deposit from a UK bank account in order to withdraw. Deposit’’ So I have to make a deposit in order to make a withdrawal? I never cease to be amazed by so called information technology, it’s on a par with the financial sector, full of bullsh*t.

I've just made a withdrawal with no problems. The end of my account number was correctly shown. Don't know why yours didn't work.
Edit: I haven't deposited since the new site went live.
