And either everyone else got bored and logged out or else the website recently speeded up quite considerably

Someone/s have been listening, and I have succeeded in buying one of the now many available penny shares . Thanks, have now managed to list said purchase into the bargain, so hopefully it'll go soon. On the whole the process seemed rather clunky, probably because of speed and scrolling, but at least I managed - might not be so lucky in a first to the draw but still. One thing I did notice though, I was poised on the available loans tab, and it refreshed itself when something became available - no intervention from me . In Edit, and sold yeah! Yes the site looks to be 'real time' across the board, I had a loan page open before showing availability that disappeared while I was procrastinating. Maybe it's causing the slowness. Edit, as stevet says, it's now quite slick.

I just bought 35p in one of the PBL's (can't remember which) and promptly put it up for sale - just testing the buy/sell procedure. It worked well - the system immediately gave me an available funds as -35p and as soon as some-one bought it the available funds returned to 0.00 A big improvement on the old BACS deficit method - although I did get 3 emails as well.
The other improvement (for those that have several loan parts for sale at the same time) was that the final email saying it had been sold told me the loan part ID in the email title. As it is therefore possible to insert the loan part ID into the title could it also be done for the email saying it has been put up for sale and the one asking for the cash to be transferred in, please.

... I'd second all comments about information density. This is particularly bad where there's an explanatory banner as well e.g., "These are the projects no longer available ..." which pushes all the data you're interested in further down the page. The banners aren't really necessary - even for a new user, pretty much all the info that the banner gives is included in title of the tab and columns in the table e.g., the "Live loans" page has "£0" in the available column for every loan and if you're wondering where the loans are with availability, oh look - there's a tab called "Available loans" ... no explanatory banner necessary. ... I'm firmly hoping that the needless "explanatory banners" are like "New road layout ahead" signs and will disappear after a short while, or at least be linked to a user-defined "Please fill my screen with statements of the bleeding obvious" option. How long did Google leave up their "This page is for searching for stuff" banner?

How do you download your list of loan parts? You can't yet. The launch email from SS says: "• We will be adding the ability to export your loan parts portfolio in CSV format"

I'll try and cut and paste into your lovely pivot table and see what happens

It doesn't work as it parses each entry across 2 lines, unless you paste the copied text in as HTML, in which case Excel's Pivot Table function can't cope. Think I'll have to wait on the CSV download to be added (there is already a CSV download button on the Transactions page so hopefully shouldn't take long...)

Unfortunately this is like Ratesetter and it's "new improved" website all over again. That was quite some time ago now and I guess we have reluctantly got used to it. But RS is a more straightforward offering and relatively simple to navigate. SS is inevitably more complicated and now made laborious to use.
The common complaint is that there is far too much blank space on the screen (at least that's how it is using Chrome on both my laptop and desktop); consequently loads of frustrating scrolling to get anywhere, unnecessarily large tiles for individual loans, and generally you cannot see your overall position without opening more pages than previously.
No doubt we shall cope but this is disappointing.

Repaid loans - just looked at PBL041 under the repaid loans tab. This one is from before my time on SS so must have repaid before early September. However it has the following errors
1) remaining time 342 days - should be zero 2) amount invested £1,853,234, amount remaining £526,766 - this does add up to the loan value of £2,380,000 but surely amount invested and amount remaining should be zero. 3) not sure whether this is an error - the Q&A tab allows me to type in a question. I can see the need to be able to see questions and answers from before and whilst the loan was live (especially if the borrower is asking for another loan so we can have some idea of their previous borrowings), but should we be able to ask a question for something that has repaid. Not sure it would get an answer anyway.
In addition it would be nice to see the start date for the loan, when it repaid, how long it originally was expected to last (so I can tell if it repaid early or not), etc.
Edit - just noticed that it didn't draw down, but that doesn't affect how the information mentioned above is being displayed.

I hid all loan parts and copied and pasted the summary in live loan parts and seemed to work for me The names are not the same as before and it's missing some of the columns, but useful enough I think?

How do you download your list of loan parts? You can't yet. The launch email from SS says: "• We will be adding the ability to export your loan parts portfolio in CSV format" Go to My Account and then Transactions. This is the same Excel download as on the old site. You will need to filter to get just the live loan parts. A bit of work but will do the job until a more convenient download of just loan parts becomes available.

Apparently missed all the fun. Quick look seems ok. Proper look later. Not enough purple
