I presume a bot can be developed which will spring into action when a chosen loan part page is kept open and ready by manually refreshing the recaptcha, thus speeding up the final two clicks.

That has crossed my mind. Problem is that with that theory you have to manually get to that point on every loan, and once the bot has purchased the loan then you have to reset it. It's fine if you are after a specific loan, but not workable if you are looking to hoover up every loan that appears. EDIT : So I just went back to a page where I had missed out on a SM loan, had already completed the pictures and was waiting so see if anything appeared. However the checkbox has reappeared with a note "verification expired. Check the checkbox again." So this wouldn’t be good for a BOTs trying to beat the system in this way

Yes, you need to 'tee up' a new recaptcha every 3 minutes or so .. rather tedious!

And a warning for anyone on safari on an ipad the captcha doesn't announce that it's expired, so having sat patiently for hours waiting for the re-appearance of a loan part, when I tried to buy it told me I hadn't ticked the non-robot box! Having subsequently switched to the laptop I can see the expiring captcha. I've had it with SM though utter waste of time, got precisely zip and just too soul destroying to continue trying. I just hope SS roll out some large loans soon before I get too de-invested.

What an obscure warning I think if people are on safari they should concentrate on looking at the wild animals and not be playing with their ipads or worried about what comes up on the SM........

Ah well, that's IPADs for you .. can't expect a shiny bit of kit to hang around at the beck and call(back) of every webpage that might want to update the status. Heck, it probably doesn't even refresh available / amount pages and fields every 3 seconds, like the poor old PC or laptop is expected to. Actually I'm not totally sure Firefox on an android tablet does either. 8>.
