My email also said "from Tuesday 9th February" so to see it closed already was rather annoying and, if I'm honest, somewhat in line with the way things are going at Zopa at the moment. Accounts don't balance, information is incomplete (for example, the statements pages and the links therefrom), OldMLB, NewMLB, lates etc.. Yes, surely they could have left it open in read only format at the very least - a lot of useful information for both old and new lenders. I wonder if those from Nutty Hollow will appear on here along with the other regulars? Elgerod (aka Geraldochef) I sent them an email asking for my content and any threads I was involved in. I also asked if there were any chances to keep the old thread open in read mode but to be honest my experience of late with them is they are shooting from the hip but only half loaded the gun. I've been rather bullish in staying with them rather than branching out but I'm starting to think I should be testing the waters elsewhere. maybe this is the push I need.

I was also quite upset that we closed the forum without any warning. I voiced my concerns but to no avail. My condolences!

Oh that was a bit sudden. No warning. No accessible archive. My theory is that Zopa wants to distance itself from its private lenders. It wants to look like a savings bank, which I think is wrong.
There is no government guarantee/deposit compensation, and by any reckoning it's a less safe way to save than a bank. I suspect that the loan book csv file may be vulnerable too, as this surely doesn't fit in with the new thinking.
It's good to see "friends" here.
aju: I see that Zopa thought the posts were getting too technical and that your parting shot included some interesting Stylish stuff.
I have written VBA code to analyse the csv (and it works) but I wonder how long it will be downloadable.
Cheers all.
Its a theme that zopa has been following for a while I feel, they will struggle to lose the CSV file as they are only showing active loans and then not all the actives. Also when the D&E stuff moves into the retail space then the need for the CSV may be even more important as at the moment the non SG stuff is not considered that important at the moment. I've got some simple loaders that enable me to reload each csv as it arrives at present but they rely on the fixed nature of the CSV fields and since zopa hasn;t got a clue about design in both the data and reporting side its clear they will change down the road. It would really be good if at least the mlb beta test thread could be put on here but I'm not convinced. The oldMLB is still available and the new MLB has got to be a considerable work in progress. I'm not sure zopa ws even listening to most of the stuff on the forum to be honest.

Shocking that this can happen overnight. I like sites with forums, I liked Zopa, but I wonder what is happening that they don't want discussed? Dented my confidence.
Also the joke thread should be preserved somewhere it was impressive!

My email also said Tuesday the 9th - so I popped over to the forum to post a "farewell and thanks for all the fish message" ... only to find that the thing is already defunct! So true to form, I've simply emailed Giles to express regret over the fact that Zopa comms do not improve with the passing of time. Signed off with a "somewhat heavy heart". Nothing quite like irony, is there? They must have been skipping all the way to the off switch

And if your concerns were to no avail, what chance did we have? Thank you for trying though. By the way, is Mat still around? It seems a long time since he last posted on the (Zopa) forum. Elgerod

Thanks for that, tell everyone at Zopa that being able to communicate with Zopa and other lenders and just have some fun on the forum was part of the Zopa experience which is now gone forever. RIP the original Zopa.

Also the joke thread should be preserved somewhere it was impressive! It's only two days ago that I nicked two of those jokes!!! The password one and the Beethoven one. I was going back for more, but I'm too late. Like in many other things Zopa, they do things first then announce them afterwards - nothing's changed over the last two years since I stopped lending with them. I wonder if Football Commentary will follow suit and close theirs. Too many awkward questions and critical exposures aired in public, which they'd rather keep quiet about, maybe.

And in the spirit of openness the forum closure is not even mentioned in the Zopa Blog!

Well that would kind of take us Full Circle wouldn't it.....be a bit ironic if they ended up shutting their own down.
