I received an email moments ago to say that Zopa were closing the user forum on their site from Tuesday 9th February. Looks like they've closed it already a day earlier than they said.

Yeah I had the same opinion, thought I would pop in to check that I hadn't missed much over the weekend before they closed it and find it is already closed when the email states it will be closed from tomorrow.

Not to keen on the criticism probably. To be fair, they do point people to this forum as an alternative. Hey, yorkman Are you still in January up there? (or is it Zopa who have allowed an extra month ... or do they think it is still January?*) (I didn't get an email, but I probably opted out of them a couple of years ago when I started withdrawing funds following appalling rates, before the "rate promise") * or does Zopa think Yorkshire is a month behind? Yes RIP the ZOPA Forum... It did die v suddenly.
The email I received did indicate it was closing today:
Pasted as below:
Subject: Important Announcement about the Zopa Forum Dear all, Not long after we launched Zopa in 2005, we created the forum to help us build a lending product that would deliver great returns, encourage lenders to invest with us and perhaps have a little fun along the way. The forum allowed us to share the experience and feedback of our early adopters and this, in turn, attracted new lenders to our platform. Quite rightly, we didn’t always get an easy ride. I remember well spending ages writing a detailed post in the early days to which I got the succinct response: ”tumbleweed”! Whilst the forum has continued to enable us to develop our offering, more recently the discussions have been held by an increasingly small number of users and have become very technical in nature, which we fear confuses new users who value simplicity. I also think it has rather lost its fun. As a result, we have decided, with a somewhat heavy heart, to close the Zopa forum from Monday 8th February. We hope you continue the discussion on the P2P Independent Forum. We will be actively monitoring this and will continue to contribute from time to time. We are still committed to involving you directly in the growth and development of our products and really value your feedback. To facilitate this we have set up a user-testing group which we would love you to join. To do so please send us an email at usertesting@zopa.com. As always, for any bugs or issues, you can reach our customer service team on contactus@zopa.com or 020 7291 8331. Speaking personally, and I really don’t mean to sound all formal, I would like to thank you for your input to date, both positive and negative. I do hope that you will continue to participate in and help shape Zopa’s journey. If you would like us to send you a copy of your contributions to the Zopa forum, please email us at contactus@zopa.com Giles

Very stark just got a message up trying to access an old link into the old spread sheets - I have hundreds of links to people who really knew both Zopa and the Forum very well and there is still a lot of good info on there its a shame they just closed it down rather than leave it up at least as a read only reference point.
As usual I'm one of the last to hear - I was only writing stuff in "Beta test new MLB" thread this morning. I wonder did I annoy someone I can be a bit critical of bad software design and there is definitely a lot of it on Zopa web site at the moment. To be honest Zopa never really discussed this stuff with the forum they just do it and see what happens, very old school and not really akin to a seasoned platform such as they are. The newMLB repkace the OldMLB and fortunaetkly a lot of people noticed and they restored it for a while. It was all done with the minimum of notice.
Sad thing is that there were a number of us old boys who were trying to assist them in the new MLB on the forum - I sent them a number of emails as I know a number of others have but I'm not sure they were listening anymore, probably fire fighting the new design problems.
Lets hope we get a better warning if Putin decides to send over a few nukes. ;-) Wonder if Giles has a line into the kremlin!
The other real shame is that zopa is changing so fast and the help file authors must be struggling to keep up.

Very disappointed, I don't agree that the forum has lost it's fun it's Zopa that's lost it's fun! Though I'll admit I read it (a lot) less often since they started changing what was a very good platform.
Still Ratesetter has moved up to fill the rate gap and I've been switching everything over to them for the last year and will certainly continue to do so.

Must remember to engage brain next time I read that adequate vitamin-K levels in the diet help limit neuronal damage in the brain ... .... and a good source of vitamin-K is readily available near you .... Rhubarb, lad, rhubarb ...

Old Grumpys message above pointed me to the zopa blog so I went there seemed a good idea, it seems that even Zopa blog is having a few issues as well. I selected "zopa news" and it seems that the last and only news item was nearly 5 months ago. So I tried a few others and it seems they may be going to do a new update on this as well as I got the following results Zopa news - 1 item Industry news - Zero items Lending - Zero Items Borrowing - 2 items back in 2014 Service update - No items Its a bit like working with the NHS Mental health where patients get moved up and down the country but their notes rarely seem to follow - Lets hope this is not the way the loanbook has gone either as I have a good deal of money invested in this Platform. And over the past few months the tools to check this have become less and less useful. (before everyone tells me that the blog is a single page now - I had spotted it but just wanted to get straight to the heart of the info rather than read a lot of items I'm not interested in.)

I just got an email from Giles ( Joshua) - reminded me of the Japanese attack on pearl harbour - arrived about 2 hours after I got the problem - I emailed them earlier to ask what had happened - I saw in message above and sent an email to customer services to request my content. It seems that Zopa is a bit busy To be fair its not urgent! - I did get my weekly, thought it might have been in there but wasn't

Oh that was a bit sudden. No warning. No accessible archive. My theory is that Zopa wants to distance itself from its private lenders. It wants to look like a savings bank, which I think is wrong.
There is no government guarantee/deposit compensation, and by any reckoning it's a less safe way to save than a bank. I suspect that the loan book csv file may be vulnerable too, as this surely doesn't fit in with the new thinking.
It's good to see "friends" here.
aju: I see that Zopa thought the posts were getting too technical and that your parting shot included some interesting Stylish stuff.
I have written VBA code to analyse the csv (and it works) but I wonder how long it will be downloadable.
Cheers all.

My email also said "from Tuesday 9th February" so to see it closed already was rather annoying and, if I'm honest, somewhat in line with the way things are going at Zopa at the moment. Accounts don't balance, information is incomplete (for example, the statements pages and the links therefrom), OldMLB, NewMLB, lates etc.. Yes, surely they could have left it open in read only format at the very least - a lot of useful information for both old and new lenders.
I wonder if those from Nutty Hollow will appear on here along with the other regulars?
