What's the problem in leaving it available indefinitely?

I second that one
I was going to send zopa an email to that same effect but having got rather disillusioned that they seem to be losing their way and also are rather fixed on their current systems and regular failures of late, I assumed they would not be that interested. Also there are many useful links to other areas of the board that do not work now so it has limited use anyway.

Hi all,
Whilst we know that a small number of people would like the old Zopa forum to remain available, we still believe that closing it is the right thing to do. We enabled the read-only access to the forum in response to requests from a number of people that they would like to take a copy of some of the content. By providing a week’s notice as a reminder we wanted to give you enough time to capture anything you might find useful.
Thanks, Mat

I would also note that, even once Zopa take down their conveniently navigable copy, a good proportion of the PUBLIC content will likely remain available via archiving sites such as the wayback machine web.archive.org/web/*/talk.zopa.comFurther, note that you can log in to the forum and access your PRIVATE content (e.g. personal messages, source code for forum signature, etc.)

I managed to save some of mine using the print to pdf options in chrome. Problem is I ended up with a load of multiple pdfs for each page (some were quite large) . So I used the excellent free PDFMerge webpages to join them all back together.
A search on that term brings it up on my system, if anyone has trouble finding let me know i'll send you the link.

Thanks, Mat Its a shame that the FAQ's etc on the forum are not really traceable anymore - I tried to find them but sadly the links no longer work. If I could see them I might be able to determine if they were of any use or not. I tried the archive and the temporary zopatalk to no avail - internal links did not seem to work

Too many grumbles, too much discussion of Zopa mark 1 and mark 2 which might 'confuse' the mass of relatively unsophisticated ISA lenders they hope to attract. Zopa are desperately trying to simplify and go mainstream - more liquidity and less pressure for higher lending rates as comparison will be against banks, building socities etc. The big payday of their IPO won't just come of its own accord you know!

I tried changing the links but they didn't work my end - I did have some success taking the titles out of elljays start point but gave up when the ones I tried didn't seem that relevant now. The other problem now is that your links to what else I could invest in have been so helpful and the time I am spending looking at other platforms has made me realise that Zopa is a bit outdated and I can perhaps have more fun widening my p2p scope more. Thanks for the pointers its been a great help. P.s - Just tried this one zopatemp.ipbhost.com/forum?topic/3646-where-can-i-find-out-what-the-lending-screens-dobut it didn't work - and still doesn't work, I eventually did a search to find it when I did it yesterday.

Thanks Gricehead just spotted that when I was trying to see why that didn't work yesterday.
I also found out that sorting the list in last post order meant that other than the 3/4 most recent ones most are probably no longer that relevant in zopa current guise.

I have just found my post from 2007. At the time someone was discussing lending money to an Icelandic bank via the Isle of Man, though possibly not in this thread!
BTW I have corrected my spelling - better spelling tools in browsers these days.

I have managed to capture a few things that may be useful .... including some of The Joke Thread. Others have already commented as to why it is (or not) "the right thing to do" etc.. However, I just wanted to point that, in the letter from Giles advising that the forum would close, he said: "If you would like us to send you a copy of your contributions to the Zopa forum, please email us at contactus@zopa.com Giles" Needless to say that, when I did ask Zopa to send me a copy, I was told by the Chief Marketing Officer that I could take a copy; no indication that Zopa would send me a copy as Giles had offered. I wonder if the Executive Chairman knew that the message he signed was totally misleading and would not be complied with?
