Sunspots are temporary phenomena which appear visibly as dark spots on the surface, sometimes connected to fluctuating solar wind. Anagrams of solar are interesting. You put a lot of thought into that just to get an anagram of a rude word oldgrumpy ..... Say; are you not supposed to loose your immaturity as you get older.....

Just needed a surreptitious way of expressing an opinion without getting banned myself (again)!

I for one sincerely hope that sunspot has NOT been banned. Whilst some of his views have not always been met with universal agreement he absolutely has the right to express them on this forum. This would be a bit of a boring place if everyone agreed with each other and people were afraid to express anything other than anodyne views. I don't want to turn this into a thread about sunspot ; but I think he was banned because of his behaviour when people disagreed with his opinions, not because his opinions differed from everybody. There are many disagreements on these forums in regards to SS, the SM, PF etc, etc. It's important to have differing views, and it important to respect those differing views which I hope the vast majority of us do. No doubt, that sometimes threads may descend into unconstructive arguments which doesn't help anybody, but we must accept that these will sometimes happen. With sunspot EVERY thread he got involved or started descended into an argument, and he was all to happy to fuel the fire. Couldn't agree more. I was pondering only yesterday evening whether sunspot had experienced similar influences at a formative age as a certain, now long departed, badger-loving contributor. No, he wasn't gassed, although some may have wished it on him, but his fate was sealed following failure to heed warnings and a suspension. sunspot had at least one virtue.....he kept away from obscure political theory. Edit: IIRC badger-man attempted a reincarnation. It didn't last too long.

It looks like that was a bug which has been fixed in the last few minutes, because: 1. Investor Activity on PBL060 now shows a £25k transaction. I'm not sure the existence of a large transaction necessarily proves anything, because the purchaser could have had £50k of cash in their account at the time.

It's not supposed to prove anything... if you snip out the second half of a proof, you don't have a proof any more!

You assumed wrong webwiz, though as saving stream mentioned, this was a bug, which I think is now fixed. Err did you notice the "not"? Otherwise if I assumed wrongly about you not doing it does that mean that you did do it?

It's not supposed to prove anything... if you snip out the second half of a proof, you don't have a proof any more! Then I clearly didn't understand what sl75 's was trying to prove. That the combination of seeing a larger transaction going through (compared to a previous comment that no transactions larger than £10k had been observed in the wild), together with the change in behaviour from a few minutes earlier, (and admittedly a small topping of Occam's Razor rather than an absolute proof...) showed that the hypothetical bug mentioned by SS a few posts previously had in fact existed and been squashed.

As nobody else has posted this, the error message given is: (with the same style as the "Oops..." that sometimes tells you to tick the not-a-robot box) This occured when entering £15000 into the box for a loan with £100 on sale, and did NOT result in a purchase of the £100, so the check clearly occurs BEFORE the check for how much is on offer (and thus whether to reduce your order).Hmmm. possibly, but I would like to see it in a genuine case where there was >£10K up for sale. Bidding >£10k on a loan <£10K may result in some sort of conflict in the code. But this needs someone prepared to buy it if needs be so not me. Thank you Hairbear for providing a link to the database you derived your information from. This has given me food for thoughts. Arrests of foreign nationals Apr 2008 - Dec 2012* *Whilst the arrest area gives the reason for arrest, it does not mean that this was the reason for a charge, if it resulted in a charge at all. This listing by nationalities is most interesting but useful only to reinforce prejudices rather than provide a reliable basis to draw conclusions. First, figures for UK/Ireland arrests are not provided for comparison so we are unable to position our own population in that list. What would be our position? Second, to be meaningful, figures should also be expressed as percentages relative to the respective population. There may only be a sprinkling of Swiss or Israeli people in this country but a large number of Polish or Romanian people. Without this information figures cannot be put in context. From the data provided I extracted a small sample sorted in terms of good to bad retaining only two parameters: murders and total offences. This shows a broad correlations between the capital offence and total offence numbers with a striking exception, namely Romania with a high number of offences but a relatively low count of murders. Remember that the figures reflect reasons for arrest, not actual charge, there might be no charge at all. Perhaps it is time to rethink your association with friends and acquaintainces. Keep this table in your pocket just in case. Murders All offences 0 Israel 198 Switzerland 0 Switzerland 349 Israel 2 USA 2321 USA 5 Lavia 4690 Lavia 7 France 7994 France 10 Romania 8513 Pakistan 13 Nigeria 10688 Somalia 18 Pakistan 14072 Jamaica 20 Somalia 15204 India 21 India 15600 Nigeria 21 Lithuania 18594 Lithuania 48 Jamaica 27725 Romania 84 Poland 34905 Poland

You might want to bring in an Israeli as a peacemaker to help out, even though it might not fit some people's stereotype. P.S. Is it just me, or have we had a significant 'multicultural integration' thing going on between the EU In or Out (sic) thread and the New rules to INPL .... whatever thread ? Was this a deliberate policy outcome or an unintended consequence ? P.P.S. How come Russia is not on the list ? Putin must be racking up a fair number just on his sole account within the Met's gaff. Allegedly.
