this info is direct from the London met... as for your post... sorry.. no idea wat your on about...? DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND...... It's very obvious...European immigrants have heard about the recent reforms in the SS INPL system, and they are upset. As such we can now all expect to be murdered...... Help! I'm lost. Are SS banning criminals?

Guys - this thread has gone a bit Daily Mail. It's a joke that might work in the pub but not in a thread which is easily misinterpreted Jack P

This thread has just possibly gone a little slightly off topic- or am I being pedantic?
When I first read the OP I thought I understood what they meant (apart from the timing in the process at which the limit of £10K INPL was applied). After SS's explanatory posts I am completely confused. Could someone who is sure they understand please explain in detail? In particular:
Does the whole of the OP relate only to the SM and not the PM (despite the reference to pre-funding)?
If everyone gets at least £10k INPL under what circumstances does one get more?

If everyone gets at least £10k INPL under what circumstances does one get more? Have more in your account. Account (parts + cash) = <£15k : PF/SM INPL limit is £10k. Account (parts + cash) = £15k+ : PF/SM INPL limit is rounded to £5k below account balance. So if... Account (parts+cash) = £29,500 : PF/SM INPL limit is £25k. Deposit £600 cash, so account = £30,100 : INPL is £30k. At least, I think that's how it works...

What we wanted to stop was someone with £50k in their account buying up the SM to the tune of £1.2m which happened a couple of times earlier this week and had no intention of depositing cash to pay for it, so we cancelled their transactions and dropped it back onto the SM. In hindsight this caused a little consternation so we will drip it in next time. I have only just read this post this morning… IMHO, these sentences stand out; [1] “…£50k in their account buying up the SM to the tune of £1.2m…” [2] “…which happened a couple of times…” [3] “…no intention of depositing cash to pay for it…” Cooling_Dude alluded to this when he started his poll… I know, I know another frigging poll However, gaming the SM is an important issue that needs to be combated. I must emphasize that I am referring to people buying on the SM with no intention of clearing their negative balance so that they gain risk-free interest. This can be further exploited if they have more than one account (I call it interest hopping). I am quite frankly taken aback, that somebody would have the nerve to use a £50k account and buy £1.2m on the Secondary Market with no intention of paying for it, keep it for less than 48 hours, gain 2 days interest and sell it on and buy it in another account and duplicate… Reading between the lines, this appears to have been what has happened here. Unchecked that would generate £12,000 per month, using two accounts!! Did that idiot really think, that he/she could get away with that unnoticed? The mind boggles.I posted before on another thread, words of caution, with words to the effect, of not getting the pitchforks out… Would you be happy to see a credit limit on the INPL system based on your account balance (i.e. current investment + deposited amount), with a £10,000 limit for new investors/ investors with small holdingsNote : INPL = Invest Now Pay Later It is my opinion, that those who have been shown to have misused the system, should have restrictions imposed on them. It is those people who should be penalised.I would be against any change on those who have shown to have invested properly. I may be a lone voice on this, but IMHO, new investors should be welcomed as we all have been welcomed at Saving Stream, with the same benefits, no restrictions. Only when investors have been shown to have a track record of taking unfair advantage, should there then be restrictions imposed upon them. Innocent until proven guilty and all that... Now that is has been shown that, an investor has /(investors have), abused the system, Saving Stream had generously provided for everybody, then as I previously wrote; “It is my opinion, that those who have been shown to have misused the system, should have restrictions imposed on them. It is those people who should be penalised.” These new guidelines don’t impact on me, or anybody else, who uses the system properly.

Agree with jackpease. Note I have moderated a number of posts here to at least remove usage of what is widely recognised - and stated as such by the wikipedia link posted - to be a derogatory term. Suggest now complete desist and keep the thread back on original topic. Frankly there are other changes / edits that ought to be made but I am not currently in a good position to do so.

cooling_dude: I read a number of times in this thread that you rely on Brandy for your thinking machine. Two questions: Is this something from the future? Do you have a Pub-board at home?

In the future petroleum has become obsolete...... brandy is used as an alternative fuel (Bender from Futurama comes to mind ) Anyway; back on to the subject at hand (stop encouriging me; you'll get me in to trouble). As mentioned by others, but now lost in the abyss of this thread; I've just tried to buy more than my total holdings in PBL25 (on purpose, to see if the new rules are working), and I get the message "Oops… The amount entered cannot be invested because it would result in a greater account deficit than is permitted".

If my piece needs moderating then by all means do this.

It was the asubsequent apparent brandy/vodka/stout induced bro' discussion a la the Snug @ Paddy Kennedy's pub* which got a bit out of hand for the forum. *You need to be a bit of a Christy Moore fan for that to mean anything.
