The really, really BIG problem is the FCA, and their disinterest in, and refusal to clean up the sector.
They're only tinkering, and because they are commercial sector rejects they don't have a clue what they're doing, let alone what so obviously needs to be done.
The FCA could make VERY robust changes and easily jail a few people, and P2P would be FAR cleaner and "investible" virtually overnight.
But the FCA chooses to do FA.
Go figure.

Recent FS update - well nice to have some good news - sadly not a single loan in my zombie loan book has realised a penny to date. Well I have easily outperformed you having recovered the princely sum of £2.65. Can't complain too much as the amount at risk in FS for me is around £500 - small beer to those who had snouts in the troughs. Mentally I have already written off FS - powerboat, Rishton, Knaresborough, Formby, Llandudno roll of honour. I just wish Collateral had not been such an absolute dud - £3K at risk and after 2 years nothing, zilch, zero, 0, nought. I do find it a bit sickening with that Bailey probably landing the B of E job really rubbing salt in the wound. Grrrrrr. It ain't over until the fat bastard sings. And that will be a very high note after someone's removed his goolies.

Merci james100. The petition to stop Bailey starting the BoE jobbie is still not listed. Shame, I'd wager everyone on here is itching to sign it asap.

Is it just me or is the TrueAndFair website not allowing you to sign the *Petition "Bailey Not Fit For BoE Governor Job" let alone even Register with T&F? www.trueandfaircampaign.com/* I can't find any petition/s anywhere on their website.

I thought the below statement was "interesting"
The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, says the new coronavirus "is a unique virus with unique features". "This virus is not influenza. We have never before seen a pathogen that can transfer between individuals [so easily]."
in the interests of balance, he also made it clear he thought it was still containable, and i'm posting this purely as an interesting observation about its characteristics.
I am reminded of that beautiful and actually very bright lady Mandy Rice-Davies - "Well, he would say that, wouldn't he?!"

Similar to you, I think I'm just gonna take the money when available. However, for those who want the option I'm glad they seem open to allowing a transfer. It will depend on where you want it to go ? Just to cash ISA or S&S if you want to take advantage of volatility. As all my FS investment is in FISA and I don’t like the thought of losing tax benefits. I may take (when possible) next years £20K and pay it in myself. (Budget changes permitting) I am aware there is the instinct to grab it all as quickly as possible and that is understandable it will be a difficult decision for many as they could have many years of accumulated allowances invested. OUCH! You got caught there Big Time? Your FS Capital Losses cannot be claimed?

Yeah, we all know how enforceable and eminently successful claiming against PGs is. I mean, they're a rock solid, gold plated, guaranteed "fallback" position of repayment aren't they.

Oh, I dunno, maybe blatantly lying about something being there when it wasn't might have contributed ever so slightly to the downfall?

One day, the FCA will wake up to the simple fact that a bit of jail time for one or more associated with FS, and one or more associated with several other platforms, will go a V long way to cleaning up P2P, relatively overnight. But, in all honesty, what can you expect from commercial sector rejects who can't think for themselves and only know how to tick boxes. And can't even do that properly. I have said the foregoing so many times now I promise this is the last time, I absolutely despair and am removing the broken record.

Labour seem to have transcended into the party of outrage. Everything that is announced, every news story, every event and there is someone from the left on TV acting righteous and superior (Ash Sarkar, Owen Jones, Grace Blakeley etc). But they still wonder why their core voters have deserted them in droves. I'm not a fan of Tony Blair, but his recent comments did ring a bell when he said that none of the current leadership candidates understood the extent of change necessary to make Labour electable againYes, luckily for us, and long may it continue. For, sure as Eggs are Eggs, IF/When Labour get back in on some sort of changed, populist ticket, they will undoubtedly revert to their Loony Left ways over a period of time in power. I was very pleased to see that "The Working Man/Woman in The North" finally woke up and realised that Labour has been taking them for granted and defecating on them for decades. Labour doesn't give a defecation about them.

A myriad of complaints, but criminal lack of supervision by the FCA is probably a good start @myneil. Unless someone on here more learned corrects me, which is always welcome.

I wonder if Mr O'Connell is a seven days a week regular at his local, and spends the rest of his time in his Man Shed? "Newman married writer John O'Connell, whom she met at university, in 2001"

Newman made a complete and utter mammary of herself, going in aggressively and needlessly "hard" right from the off. Peterson quietly and very politely demolished her with a nuanced performance, comprehensively exposing her for what she is. To think she thought she could take on a Professor of Psychology from the University of Toronto and "win" is delusional; she also very quickly changed the subject so many times when she was "losing" that I lost count. You realise her job was to challenge him, not agree with him. It may have been a losing position, but that was her job. She shouldn't have tried "doing a Paxman" if she couldn't back it up, she was WAY out of her depth. She just shouldn't have been given the gig, she wasn't and isn't up to it intellectually, and needed to calm down and stop being one of the "wimmin".
