As of September 2021, the US debt ceiling was set at $28.4 trillion. (Source: ChatGPT)
Considering the Debt Ceiling keeps getting raised, and it's almost certainly NEVER going to lower/be paid down, I guess you have to ask yourself "When, and how is this all likely to end?"
Don't think you need crystal balls for that one....😉

Idiots blindly vote for "The Party" (whatever colour it may be), usually disregarding the incumbent's actual performance and track record in Council office. Councils provide Services, nothing more, nothing less, and to caste your Local Council vote based purely on "The Party" and/or national issues is idiocy personified. A Party of any hue could be doing an exemplary job running their Local Council, but if the National sentiment is against them at the time, they get the boot. Failure to be able to differentiate between the basics of what matters when you're running a Local Council, and what matters when you're running The Whole Country, is IMHO an Intelligence Test. There should be NO Party Politics at Council level, Political Parties should be banned and it should so obviously be independents only. Wasn't Maggie looking into abolishing Councils before her demise?

How can you be so confidently sure. Well, given that only one drone appears to have got near, which seems to have (been) blown up in the air just off the dome without causing any damage... Yeh, I rather suspect the yanks would have bypassed subtlety as much as usual, chucked a shedload of PROPER big fat stuff at it, and there'd be a pile of rubble. Read my post again......

Alleging an attack on the seat of power by the US would seem to be preparatory propaganda for a serious escalation. Shouting "THEY DID IT, AND WE WILL RETALIATE!" and actually following through are two very different things. You'd like to hope that there's enough sanity kicking about in there to know where to draw that line. One thing's for sure, if the US really DID do it, they'd have done a far better job.How can you be so confidently sure. The CIA et al work in supremely mysterious ways, and a cack handed attempt followed by wot is happening now may well be exactly what they wanted, part of some grander, extremely cunning plan? One thing for sure, neither you, me nor the gatepost have the faintest clue about what's really going on in this war.

They're 'avin a larf, their hypocrisy and sheer chutzpah knows NO bounds .......... FCA sets out rules to improve whistleblower confidenceThe Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is today (4 May) setting out actions to improve the confidence of whistleblowers. This includes sharing further information with whistleblowers on how it has acted on their information and improving the use of information provided by whistleblowers. And also improving how it captures information from whistleblowers. This follows a qualitative survey of whistleblowers who had provided information to the FCA to understand their experience and identify areas for improvement. The FCA will:- provide whistleblowers with more detail on what has been done with the information provided, or reasons for taking or not taking action improve the use of whistleblowers’ information across the FCA (eg making the best use of data and ensuring that end-to-end whistleblowing processes are as efficient as possible); enhance its webform – which is the most popular way for whistleblowers to contact the FCA – to fully capture every whistleblower’s disclosure; engage with the Department for Business and Trade to support a review of whistleblower legislation to enhance the wider whistleblowing system Whistleblowing provides the FCA with unique insights from inside the firms and markets it regulates. It has allowed it to identify and correct problems including consumers being mis-sold loans, unauthorised firms taking on customers, and failings in firms’ own internal whistleblowing procedures. FCA executive director of enforcement and market oversight Therese Chambers said: “We need the intelligence whistleblowers provide to identify and act on problems in the firms we regulate. We want to make sure we’re capturing and using the information provided by whistleblowers as effectively as possible, and to give them as much information as the law allows on how we have acted on their concerns.” The FCA added its ability to share information about how it has acted on the information provided by whistleblowers is often restricted by legal confidentiality obligations. The regulator went on to say the revised approach will provide as much information as possible within these legislative constraints. Surely the lack of ".gov" anywhere gives the game away? Of course, if you're in a desperate hurry, or not particularly internet savvy, you may well miss such an obvious omission.

ISTM that over time, bobo was getting more forthright with his postings, particularly regarding the Russia/Ukraine War. It can be brutal on here, and, despite his "bluster", I suspect bobo is a sensitive and caring soul. Indeed, his postings were often quite informative. Unlike mine ...........

There SO obviously needs to be an independent Auditing system in place to oversee Administrators. Having their own "Professional Body" supposedly performing this task is ................ laughable.
Somehow I feel that Fees, Charges & Expenses would sudenly be a whole lot more reasonable, overnight.
Won't ever happen of course, everyone and their dog with any influence has a vested interest in ensuring this unfettered Gravy Train steams ahead nicely......

Re "bullying" et al. We have become a nation of far too many pitiful wet wimps, with no backbone - it is very easy to tell that no-one (or VERY few) on here ever sold photocopiers. In Central London. In the early '80s.

"Not tax payer funded ... funded by financial companies."
Explains why the FCA spends inordinate amounts of time and money running around simply covering their derriere, whilst denying any and all culpability, particularly when they are 100% bleedin' obviously the cause of many financial catastrophes.
Will MPs and the Teasury Committee take note, and actually DO something?
Don't hold yer breath, they've had decades of mounting, incontrovertible evidence to act and sort out the FCA, especially under Failey Bailey, and still choose to do ................ nothing.

Suggestions please to generate income , growth and not (too much) loss of capital . I suggest you might consider Fundsmith. This is NOT financial advice, do your own due diligence and make your own informed investment decisions.

Failey Bailey was, apparently, at the time of his appointment, "The only reasonably qualified and experienced person for the post." Or somesuch total, complete, and utter BS.
On the entire planet?! After conclusively proving his (in)abilities at the FCA?
God Help Us.

He who formerly headed the FCA now heads the BoE. We can fully expect he will repeat the magnificent job he did whilst in charge of the BoE. I am hurriedly liquidating my assets and converting all my Sterling into Pork Bellies........... Erm..................is that Australian for "I'm putting a bit of weight on"? Well, I AM just back from a month Downunda........
